Literally everyone was heartbroken when it was announced that Kermit and Miss Piggy ended their long-term relationship. It seemed almost implausible that a couple that had been together for so long randomly decided to call it quits. Then it was revealed that Kermit had moved on to a younger pig named Denise. Still, there was still no real reason given for his break up with Miss. Piggy. However, on the series premiere of The Muppets the world finally learned why the couple is no more.
It turns out that the real culprit behind their split was actress Elizabeth Banks….but not for the reason that you may think. As the showrunner for Miss Piggy’s show Up Late With Miss Piggy, Kermit tried to book Elizabeth Banks as one of Piggy’s guests, and mama was NOT having it. She had a major freak out. At first, Kermit assumed it was because of Piggy’s botched Hunger Games audition, but that was not actually the case.

It seems that Kermit and Miss Piggy called it quits on their way to see Banks’ latest film, Pitch Perfect 2. Irritated with Piggy and her obsession with taking endless selfies, Kermit blurted out, “I can’t do this anymore.” As he walks away, Miss Piggy quietly peers up at a poster of Elizabeth Banks’ face. Obviously, Piggy was so adamant about not having Banks on her show because she did not want to be reminded of the awful breakup.
Now that the world knows why Miss Piggy and Kermit ended things, we just have to wait to see how long Kermit and his new lady Denise will last.
