‘High School Musical 4’ Welcomes New Class

Big news today for teens and tweens everywhere – High School Musical 4 is on the way. Of course Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) and Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) are now college coeds, so Disney is bringing in a new class of singing and dancing Wildcats to take their places.

Despite making a hefty $251 million worldwide with High School Musical 3: Senior Year, the franchise is returning to the Disney Channel for the fourth installment in 2010 now that A-listers Efron and Hudgens have moved on.

President of Disney Channels Worldwide Gary Marsh tells the New York Times that the story will involve a rivalry with a cross town school and that screenwriter Peter Barsocchini will return to pen the script.
