‘Idol’ Contestant Booted … Ineligible!

Joanna Pacitti’s American Idol dreams were cut short last night, when the show issued a press release stating, “It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition.”

While fans felt she was over-qualified for the competition with an earlier record label deal, an album and music videos, The Hollywood Reporter says it was her “friendship with executives from Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment, which co-produces the Idol” that got her ousted.

Fellow contestant Felicia Barton, a mom sent home on Wednesday’s show, will step in to take her place.
