James Corden‘s “Carpool Karaoke” is a total movement. The comedian has hosted some mega stars like Adele, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber. In the most recent episode of The Late, Late Show, Corden drives around with his new pals The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
For those of you who haven’t had much experience with watching the Red Hot Chili Peppers, save for that time they played at the Super Bowl, you’re in for a surprise. This group of middle aged rock stars are beyond weird — but in the best way possible.
The group sings at the top of their lungs to a few of their most famous songs while Flea gets way, way into humming his bass lines and breaking into a jam from the musical Oliver. In what’s perhaps one of the strangest things we’ve seen in recent times, the band shares a surprisingly, intricate joke song called “Heemi Lheemey” that they wrote when they were 15 years old and smoking massive amounts of marijuana. What’s more shocking then the fact that the song makes no sense and they sing it in perfect harmony is the fact they actually remember it at all.
Later, Anthony Kiedis challenges Corden to a wrestling match, where they duke it out on some random person’s lawn (the things you can get away with in L.A.!) and eventually, they all end up shirtless and dancing in the car.
