Kevin Costner to Star in New TV Drama ‘Yellowstone’

Kevin Costner is heading to the small screen for his first role as a TV regular on forthcoming series Yellowstone.

The Dances With Wolves star will play a fictional landowner who controls the largest ranch in the U.S., while fighting land developers, elders at a neighboring Indian reservation, and officials at America’s first National Park, Yellowstone.

Production on the 10-episode show, penned and directed by Hell or High Water screenwriter Taylor Sheridan, will begin this autumn (17), ahead of a summer, 2018 launch on the Spike network.

“Our goal is to bring premium cinematic storytelling to television,” Paramount Network and TV Land president of development and production Keith Cox shares in a statement. “With an icon such as Kevin Costner in front of the camera, and the renowned Taylor Sheridan behind the camera, we are off to a great start.

“We are thrilled to have such a celebrated actor as Costner to play the lead role in such an important project for Paramount Network.”

Yellowstone won’t be Costner’s first foray into TV – he also won critical acclaim for his role in historical mini-series Hatfields & McCoys in 2012, when he portrayed ‘Devil’ Anse Hatfield opposite the late Bill Paxton as Randall McCoy in the three-part drama, about the two families’ infamous post-American Civil War feud over a stolen pig.
