Kit Harington will return to Game of Thrones but only to play the “corpse” of Jon Snow.

British actor Kit put an end to speculation over the fate of one of the show’s most popular characters which has tortured fans for months. And the Spooks actor’s admission will finally stop the debates that have been raging since his tragic appearance in the season five finale.

When asked for more details on the series ahead, he confirmed Jon would be back, but not for good.

“I don’t have a clue. I know how long I’m a corpse for, but I can’t tell you that,” he shared in an interview with British magazine Time Out where he addressed the fate of the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.

“Look, I’m not in the show any more. I’m definitely not in the new series… I filmed some scenes of me being dead – it’s some of my best work.”

Viewers saw Jon knifed to death by his brother’s of the Night’s Watch as they proclaimed: “For the Night’s Watch.” Despite compelling evidence of his demise, fans have been working overtime to come up with a theory suggesting he’ll be back in some form or other. The most popular explanation is that Jon will be resurrected by either Melisandre or the Night’s King.

A video teaser was released featuring Jon, adding to chatter that he is alive. However, the scene was framed as one of half-brother Bran’s visions, who often flashes back to past events.

The new details were shared during an interview to promote Kit’s role in play Doctor Faustus. Kit starts his run in London’s West End in April.

Game of Thrones Season 6 premieres April 24 in the US and April 25 in the UK on Sky Atlantic.
