Matthew Perry’s The Odd Couple reboot cancelled

Former Friends star Matthew Perry’s The Odd Couple reboot has been cancelled after three seasons.

The TV remake, which was executive produced by Perry, premiered in 2015. The 13-episode third season wrapped in January (17) and bosses at CBS have decided not to renew the show.

Hinting at the cancellation last month, Perry, who played a fun-loving sports radio DJ on the sitcom, tweeted: “My face on the Odd Couple stage door has been painted over with green paint.I think it’s safe to assume that we have been cancelled.”

He has yet to comment on the official news.

Perry and his co-star Thomas Lennon played roommates Oscar Madison and Felix Ungar on the show. Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau portrayed the characters in a 1968 film and 1998 sequel, while Jack Klugman and Tony Randall teamed up for a spin-off TV series, which ran from 1970 to 1975.

Ron Glass and Demond Wilson also appeared as Ungar and Madison in a African-American themed version of The Odd Couple in the early 1980s.
