Mamie Gummer has appeared on TV in The Good Wife, Off The Map, and the miniseries John Adams, but she’s probably best known as Meryl Streep‘s daughter. However, that may be about to change. She’s just landed the lead role in First Cut, a new medical drama from Gilmore Girls and 90210 writer/producer Jennie Snyder Urman.
In the CW show, Gummer plays Emily, a new doctor who hopes to shed her dorky past, but learns, “life at the hospital where she works is no different than high school.” Well, hopefully it’s a bit different. We wouldn’t want to see our high school’s resident stoner try to remove someone’s gallbladder.
