When Netflix announced that they were remaking,  A Series of Unfortunate Events, we were thrilled. Though comedian Jim Carrey is a genius, the 2004 film certainly did not do justice to Lemony Snicket‘s epic saga. The series is due to hit Netflix sometime this year, and it will have 13-episodes that will possibly correspond with the 13-book series. Admittedly, when we heard that the super adorable Neil Patrick Harris would be taking on the role as the menacing Count Olaf, we weren’t exactly convinced that he would be able to pull it off. After all, this is the man who adopts and torments Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire after their parents are killed in a fire. (I mean seriously, have you seen NPH with his hubby and kiddos? He seems way too lovable to even play such a treacherous character.) But how wrong we were.

A photo of NPH in full Count Olaf mode leaked from the Unfortunate Events set, and after seeing it we still haven’t recovered. We can’t even imagine what the hair and makeup department had to go through to turn the jovial actor into this monster.
