Fans of American Idol’s olden days should rejoice because their favorite squabbling duo will be back on Fox unintelligibly debating over another singing competition. Paula Abdul is officially signed on as the fourth and final member of the now complete judging panel for the upcoming British import, The X Factor. She joins L.A. Reid, Cheryl Cole and of course, Simon Cowell.
She’s been rumored to hold one of the panel seats for months now and it’s no wonder that she’d want in or that Cowell would pick her. They were the most talked about judges when they were together on Idol and with her defunct dance show, Live to Dance, out of the picture, she’s got the time. She’s always been a little loopy and I’m sure she doesn’t want us to focus on that, but either way it will be fun to see her rainbows and sunshine mentality face off against Cowell’s sharp, harsh commentary. It’s been noticeably missing from Idol and it makes sense that X Factor would want to gain the edge by bringing that back, especially when NBC’s The Voice is encroaching on Fox’s territory.
