See The Men of ‘Supernatural’ Before They Were Famous

It’s time to check out the men of Supernatural before they were famous. Has Jensen Ackles always looked that good? Duh. We all know that Jared Padalecki was on Gilmore Girls before Supernatural, but what about before that? What have the rest of these hunters, demons, and angels done in the past? One of these men worked on the Clinton administration! Check them out!

We know what you're going to say - "He was on Gilmore Girls before Supernatural!" - which, duh of course he was, he was the original Dean on The WB. But did you know he was a candidate for the Presidential Scholars Program? In 1998 he won the National Forensic League national championship in Duo Interpretation and had plans to attend the University of Texas. But then he won Fox Broadcasting's "Claim to Fame Contest" and decided to pursue an acting career, his first role being in A Little Inside, which premiered the year before Gilmore Girls aired.

Every dedicated Supernatural fan knows that Jensen used to be a model, but have you ever seen his cowboy photo shoot? Get a fan ready, there are a lot of shirtless Jensen pics. From age 4 Jensen modeled on and off until he was about 18. He began concentrating on his acting career then, starting with roles in Mr. Rhodes and Sweet Valley High. He got his big break when he was cast on Days of Our Lives in 1997, which he won him a Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Male Newcomer in 1998. You might remember him as the asshole that knocked up Jen Lindley and left her on Dawson's Creek or maybe you remember him as Lana Lang's BF on Smallville. In 2002 he actually had auditioned for the role of Clark Kent on that show, but as we all know, the part when to Tom Welling. We don't think Jensen is too mad now that Supernatural is headed into it's 11th season.
Misha Collins - Castiel

Columbia Pictures/The CW
Castiel girls, prepare for a shocker - Castiel's real name is not actually Misha Collins. Misha was born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic, but we imagine that was quite a mouthful and he chose a stage name. Collins is his great-grandmother's maiden name. Before he was an actor, Misha interned during the Clinton administration at the White House for 4 months in the Office of Presidential Personnel.  Some of his early acting work includes Liberty Heights, Girl, Interrupted, and an episode of Charmed.

Way before he was this beloved father figure on Supernatural, Jim Beaver was a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was trained as a microwave radio relay technician and served at the Marine Corps Base Twentynine Palms and at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton before he was transferred to the 1st Marine Division near Da Nang, South Vietnam in 1970. He served as a radio operator at an outlying detachment of the 1st Marine Regiment, then as a supply chief for the division communications company. In 1971 he returned to the U.S. and was discharged as Corporal (E-4), but  he remained active in the Marine Reserve until 1976. After a brief career as a Frito Lay dough maker, he attended what is now the Oklahoma Christian University and became interested in theater.
Mark Sheppard - Crowley
Mark Sheppard, The X-Files, Supernatural
Mark Sheppard isn't just the King of Hell, he was once a young king of music. When he was just 15, he became a professional musician and spent many years as a recording and touring artist with bands like Robyn Hitchcock, the Television Personalities, and the Irish group Light a Big Fire. You may recognize him from the "Fire" episode of The X-Files. Before he was the king of all demons, he played the demon Badger on Charmed.
Osric Chau - Kevin Tran
Osric Chau, Supernatural
You may not know this, since Kevin Tran never got to show off his sweet moves, but Osric Chau spent many years studying martial arts. Back in 2000, he took his first martial arts class in Wing Chun, where he learned theories and applications of self-defense. He spent the next 8 years studying the art and earned a gold medal in competition in 2001. After that he quickly became a student instructor. Before he was on Supernatural, he was on the shows Cold Squad and Dragon Boys.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan - John Winchester
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, The Burning Zone, Supernatural
Before he planned on a career of acting, Jeffrey Dean Morgan once played basketball in high school and then college. He attended Skaggit Valley College in Mount Vernon, Washington with an atheltic scholarship, but wound up leaving citing a "knee injury" but later revealed he was jumped by five guys and stabbed. He began acting in 1991 with the film Uncaged. He was cast to play John Winchester, Dean and Sam's father, even though he is only 12 years older than Jensen Ackles.
Rob Benedict - Chuck Shurley
Rob Benedict, Supernatural
The truly dedicated Supernatural fans know what Rob Benedict was up to before he was playing the sassy prophet-turned-writer Chuck. In 1997 he founded the band Louden Swain, which he's still a member of,  with bassist Mike Borja and drummer Stephen Norton. Some of his first acting gigs include CBS' Threshold and Felicity, where he played Felicity's roommate.
Mark Pellegrino - Lucifer
Mark Pellegrino, Doogie Howser MD, Supernatural
Before he was playing Lucifer, a role we will never be able to forget - especially those months he was stuck in Sammy's head, Mark Pellegrino played a normal dude. And not a fallen angel that puts demons and all other creatures to shame. Some of his earliest work includes: Night Life, Dooge Howser, M.D., Prayer for Rolleryboys, and Blood and Concrete.

Curtis Armstrong - Metatron
Curtis Armstrong, Risky Business, Supernatural
Warner Bros/The CW
Before he was the scribe of God, Curtis Armstrong made a name for himself among nerds everywhere. His first acting role was in the hit Tom Cruise movie Risky Business as Miles Dalby. Most people know him though for his role as Booger in the Revenge of the Nerds films. But 30 years later, Supernatural fans might not immediately recognize Curtis Armstrong for the character actor he is. You don't become a host on King of the Nerds without 30 years of work to prove you're in fact a nerd at heart and proud of it.

Wow, we can’t believe that Sam Winchester was discovered in a competition contest!
