‘Simpsons’ Make History With Two More Seasons

Cowabunga! The Simpsons just got renewed for another two seasons – making it the longest-running series in primetime television history. Fox’s 44-episode pick up means the show will reach an astounding 493 episodes by the end of the 22nd season.

The animated hit follows the lives of Springfield’s Homer and Marge Simpson and their kids Bart, Lisa and Maggie. On the air since Jan. 14, 1990, the show has left an imprint on American pop culture with its wit and subversive humor.

A global celebration called “Best. 20. Years. Ever” honoring all things Simpsons launched in January as a lead up to the show’s 20th anniversary in 2010.
