Just as the cast of The Real Housewives of DC was to begin shooting its second season, it is being reported that the show has been canceled. While the other franchises (more specifically, the housewives of Orange County, Atlanta, New Jersey, New York and Beverly Hills) have been doing quite well in the ratings, DC never gained momentum in viewership and has resulted in Bravo’s decision to nix it entirely. Bravo has yet to confirm the news, and sources say they even have yet to tell the cast. The change in programming has also reportedly affected the way producers will create new shows, as someone close to the discontinued show said, “After DC failed in the ratings…they realized they can’t just start a show anywhere and it will succeed. Bravo used to think it was about the brand and they could switch the housewives at any point but now they have realized it is about the women involved and that has changed their perspective.” Andy Cohen has made it official that he will not be indulging any housewives in any other cities, and they are hereby left to their rhinestone-covered devices.
