TV STUFF: ‘Survivor’ Year’s Best

Fifty-two-million “Survivor” viewers can’t be wrong.

Apparently, that’s what the people at TV Guide also think. The magazine named the CBS reality-TV series the No. 1 primetime show for the year.

NBC’s acclaimed presidential series “The West Wing,” which swept the Emmys this year, came in at No. 2.

Other winners include HBO’s “The Sopranos” (No. 4), NBC’s drama staple “ER” (No. 8) and the Peacock Network’s comedy “Will & Grace” (No. 10).

The Peacock Network’s “Ed” (No. 6) is the only new debut this season that made the list.

Here’s TV Guide’s list of the Top 10 shows of the year.

1. “Survivor” (CBS) 2. “The West Wing” (NBC) 3. “Once and Again” (ABC) 4. “The Sopranos” (HBO) 5. “Malcolm in the Middle” (FOX) 6. “Ed” (NBC) 7. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (WB) 8. “ER” (NBC) 9. “Everybody Loves Raymond” (CBS) 10. “Will & Grace” (NBC)

THE BILL CLINTON MORNING TALKER?! Looks like the post-presidential gig of Senate spouse just isn’t going to be enough for President Clinton.

The Associated Press is reporting that NBC has been pitched the idea of a TV talk show with the soon-to-be former president as host. The suggestion apparently came from a Clinton friend who produces shows for TV.

“We have no idea what the show is,” NBC spokeswoman Shirley Powell said on Monday. “We really would have to have a formal pitch before we would move ahead with anything.”

Meanwhile, the president’s camp remains similarly elusive.

“The president’s future plans are not confirmed yet,” Nanda Chitre, a White House spokeswoman, told AP.
