Warner Bros TV Comes To Comic-Con

ALTThere’s a television invasion at San Diego Comic-Con this summer, as Warner Bros. announced that they will bring an unprecedented 14 TV shows to the July convention.  Fringe, Chuck and Batman: The Brave and the Bold are returning for another year at the Con, with new shows Nikita and Unnatural History making their first appearances.

Warner Bros. will run a 3,000 square foot booth at the con, as it has in years past, where they will host video demos, autograph signing sessions, and swag giveaways. They are also screening the pilot of Nikita, and new episodes from series such as Children’s Hospital and Batman: The Brave And The Bold.

While some of Warner Bros.’s choices for the show seem to be stretching the definition of nerd fare (I don’t know anyone who’s foaming at the mouth for Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated) the company is showing a very strong sci-fi lineup. Mainstream television has often been hesitant to come out with hard science fiction and fantasy programming, leaving shows like Merlin and Battlestar Galactica to the Syfy channel. Lately, however, the networks are beginning to embrace shows with genre elements and a nerdy influence. Since Lost ended there’s room on TV for a new sci-fi epic, and Warner Bros. might be interested in bringing it to us.
