Watch a Scene from ABC’s ‘The River’

You’ve probably seen countless posters, billboards, magazine ads, and those little triangular signs on top of taxis with mysterious advertisements for ABC’s next big series, The River. The posters don’t tell us much, except that the series takes place in nature, where things are presumably scary because the director of all the Paranormal Activity films created this intrepid new show. But what’s actually going on? The series is filmed in the found footage style, and follows a team looking for a lost scientist in the Amazon. And if this clip is any indication – hello, creepy baby tree – this may just be one of the scariest things to hit television, possibly ever.

The series premieres Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC with a two-hour episode. Will you be tuning in, or are you too scared?
