Kristen Bell is an adorable, little pixie who charms us by crying profusely when she meets forest creatures and other such cute things. We know this. We didn’t know, however, that Bell might be a better late night host than some of the most seasoned talk show vets. And Thursday night, she proved she might just have the chops to do the job when she practically stole Jay Leno’s Ryan Lochte interview from her perch on the Tonight Show couch.
After having an pleasant little chat with Leno, during which she jokingly claimed she could do most of the Olympic events just as well as the lauded athletes, Bell playfully hijacked Leno’s interview with Olympic champion Ryan Lochte. Between donning Lochte’s medals and interjecting (with her hand politely raised, mind you) to ask questions that might elicit more than a canned answer from Lochte – which is all Leno had managed to get up to that point.
Of course, there are those folks who think Bell’s actions were disrespectful, causing a minor stir on Twitter in which some users call her out for being “an attention whore” or other, less publishable names. Still, most people appear to be praising her for spicing up what we all know would have a been a rather dull interview — Lochte can swim like a fish, but when it comes to talking on camera, the man’s got no game.
