Spoiler alert: this ruins the ending of Stranger Things and your window for spoiler alerts about this show is rapidly shrinking. If it’s still somehow not spoiled for you, you better watch it now.

In the last episode of Stranger Things, it looked like Eleven sacrificed herself to defeat the demogorgen. All of us were pretty sure she was dead, but this is Stranger Things, and if you can be sucked into an alternate dimension where you can only communicate through fairy lights, anything can happen.
There was a little scene at the very, very ending of the last episode that gave us hope. Chief Hopper puts some Eggo waffles in a box in the woods hinting at the fact that he’s either mourning Eleven or Eleven is still alive. It turns out everything we hoped is true — Eleven will be returning in season two.
While Netflix reps have declined to comment, a source confirmed to TV Line that Millie Bobby Brown will return to play the breakout character in Stranger Things’ second season.
Eleven’s return has been much-debated. Like we said above, the ending left room for tons of debate and the Duffer brothers themselves admitted that her fate was “up in the air.” It’s unclear how many episodes Eleven will be in, but we’re guessing she’ll remain a series regular.
Season two will also see the addition of a new female character named Max. Max, played by American Odyssey’s Sadie Sink, is described as “tough and confident girl whose appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era. She has a complicated history and is generally suspicious of those around her.” Do we smell another Eleven? Maybe Max is number Nine or Ten? Things are certainly getting interesting!
Season two of Stranger Things will air sometime in 2017 and pickup about a year after the events in season one.
