The cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be one redhead short: Mary Jane Watson will no longer be in the superhero sequel. The scenes that Shailene Woodley shot as the character are being pushed back to the third installment, which won’t be released until 2016. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Woodley spoke about being cut from the film.
"Of course I'm bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason. Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing MJ until the next film."
This announcement adds to speculation that Peter Parker's current leading lady, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) may meet her end in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This would give MJ the chance to snag the web-slinger's heart in the third movie.
Woodley, meanwhile, is keeping busy. Her next film The Spectacular Now is being released in August, and she's also starring in the movie adaptation of the Divergent series.

Summit Entertainment's Highlander reboot is starting to look like the moors of Scotland, and by that I mean uninhabited by people. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was most recently attached to direct, but he left in November 2012. Now Ryan Reynolds has left the project as well. Reynolds was attached to play Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman forced to confront the Kurgan, a brutal barbarian who lusts for the fabled "Prize."
Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the Highlander reboot, while Noah Oppenheim penned the most recent draft. Melissa Rosenberg also took her turn with the script in 2011. Justin Lin was originally attached to direct in September 2009, though he exited the project in August 2011 to focus on Fast and Furious 6.
Leaving the film won't hurt Reynolds, as he'll soon begin filming Tarsem Singh's thriller Selfless, which FilmDistrict will release on Sept. 26, 2014. He also stars opposite Jeff Bridges in Universal's R.I.P.D and voices the title character in Turbo, which DreamWorks Animation opens July 17. And his exit might actually help the reboot. When it eventually finds a new director, he or she will have more freedom with the vision for the film without being stuck with another director's casting choice.
In the end, there can only be one Highlander star — until he leaves, that is. Then there will be a different one.

When you actually have to tone down the absurdity of a real life story and its characters for a big screen adaptation, you know you're digging into a pop culture goldmine. The true events on which Sofia Coppola's new release The Bling Ring are based are so vehemently outlandish that you'd going to be hard-pressed to believe they could ever have taken place... that is, we would be if we hadn't been graced with the glories of this reality TV phenomenon a few years back.
Those of you adhered to the buzz will remember with particular clarity (due to the number of YouTube replays you likely enjoyed) the phone call between Alexis Neiers, the Bling Ring member embodied by an off-the-wall Emma Watson in the film, and the voicemail machine of one Nancy Jo Sales, the Vanity Fair editor who explored the jarring story of the group of privileged Hollywood teens who made a hobby out of burglarizing the homes of the rich and famous. In response to the article, a tearful Neiers called Sales with a laughably vapid profession of angst, attempting to air her grievances through explosive thoughts and an interrupting mother. Joel McHale has a ball with the tailor-made-for-The Soup clip below:
Now, in light of The Bling Ring's release and a newly revived conversation about the ordeal, Sales herself chimes in with the below response to The Huffington Post:
"I'm so glad I didn't pick up the phone, because she was in distress. It would not have been a productive conversation. But if I had been able to talk to her I would have reassured her that the Vanity Fair article -- which was very straightforward and made no judgments about her innocence or guilt -- would have no bearing on her adjudication whatsoever, which it didn't. It was just a magazine article and it really meant her no harm, and I don't think did her any harm. Her case was her case. She pled no contest to burglary, which is a strike offense in the state of California. I think that says it all that she pled no contest. She got a 180-day sentence, which is an extremely light sentence for this offense, and she did 29 days. So I don't think Alexis Neiers has a whole lot to complain about at this point."
Considering the fact that the whole reason she got into the burglary business was to achieve notoriety, she sure doesn't. She got a reality show, a phone call clip that went viral, and now a movie about her story wherein she is played by one of the most beloved young actresses in Hollywood today. Face it, those of you who still believe that justice prevails... Alexis Neiers kind of won.

If you’ve never seen Pretty Wild, the short-lived E! reality series starring Bling Ring member Alexis Neiers, you are missing out. And if you've never seen the footage of Neiers attempting to leave an angry voicemail for Vanity Fair reporter (on whose article the film The Bling Ring is based) Nancy Jo Sales., you shoulddo so immediately immediately.
Since Emma Watson hits it out of the park with her portrayal of a character based on Neiers in The Bling Ring, we thought about who we would like to see play other famous (or infamous) reality TV personalities in movies about their lives. Who could act out the craziness of the Kardashians? Which actors could take on the beards of the Duck Dynasty guys? And who should play Snooki? Click on the gallery below to check out our choices.

Sofia Coppola's latest film, The Bling Ring, brings the true story of a gang of young, celebrity-obsessed thieves, as chronicled in Nancy Jo Sales' 2010 Vanity Fair article "The Suspects Wore Louboutins," to the big screen. In the movie, we watch as Rebecca (Katie Chang) leads a group of friends in a series of celebrity home invasions, burglarizing the likes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, and Orlando Bloom (among others).
The group's forays are motivated by a misplaced feeling of entitlement and a profound hunger for fame, making the entire story — and now Coppola's not-quite-fictionalized portrayal of events — somewhat prophetic. Before the final credits roll, both real and imagined Bling Rings achieve the very fame they so coveted.
While visions of Emma Watson (who plays teenaged thief Nicki), with her perfectly painted face and shiny brunette extensions, may dominate trailer time and promotional materials, it is in fact a boy — Marc, played by Israel Broussard — at the center of all the Bling Ring's drama. We see the formation of the crew and its exploits through the soft, doe-brown eyes of Marc, a self-conscious outsider who believes Rebecca to be, as he says (and the real Bling Ring "rat" Nick Prugo states in Sales' article), "the first person I felt was, like, my best friend." Portrayed by relative newcomer Broussard, Marc is a sympathetic — if misguided — lens to the inner-workings of the Bling Ring.
From Marc's vantage point, we watch Rebecca, Nicki, Sam (Taissa Farmiga), and Chloe (Claire Julien), "go shopping" in celebrity home after celebrity home. We watch as they try on Hervé Leger dresses and too-big Jimmy Choos. As they brandish about Brian Austin Green's pistol. As they snort cocaine off of compact mirrors while they blast Rick Ross from their car speakers. As they go clubbing… and clubbing again… and again. As they drink iced lattes. For Marc and the ladies, this is the life. But from an outsider's point of view, it's monotonous. And as a film, it's an aimless spiral of designers and drugs that borders on boring in its redundancy.
But The Bling Ring is not without its high points. It is speckled with scene-stealing performances, among them Broussard, Watson, and Leslie Mann as Nicki's Juicy sweatsuit-wearing, The Secret-loving mother; Julien is charming and hilarious as the degenerate Chloe. In the film's third act, however, Watson decides to up the ante and hijack the entire movie.
Marc is left in the shadows while Nicki, with her inadvertently hilarious prosthelytizing, steals the spotlight. While I have to believe that this happens in large part because Nicki's real life model, Alexis Neiers, captured the public's attention in 2010 with her reality show Pretty Wild (and that notorious "disappointed" phone call to Sales), it's jarring to suddenly leave Marc's narrative behind and follow Nicki through to the film's end.
But with Marc suddenly gone from the picture, the viewers have lost their anchor and the film suffers for it. He was the little substance we had to cling to in this nauseating roller-coaster ride of entitlement and excess. Without him, we can't help but feel a bit abandoned. Marc's disappearance personifies another major fault with the film, which is that Coppola fails to see things through — not on a plot-level, but thematically. She introduces her viewers to the world of celebrity obsession, but we are never really entranced by it. Repulsed rather than compelled by the characters, the audience is unable to relate to the Bling Ring members and therefore fails to see its own celebrity infatuation reflected in the characters' deeds. While this film had the opportunity to enlighten viewers to our own grotesque obsession with fame, we are instead left only denegrating the film's antiheros for theirs.
3/5

Question: Could Emma Watson be any more perfect? Answer: Nope! The Harry Potter star captivated audiences with her charm in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, will embrace her inner valley girl in the highly anticipated movie The Bling Ring, and can now add the title of producer to her perfectly polished resume.
Watson is teaming up with her Harry Potter producer David Heyman to deliver a new franchise, Queen of the Tearling. And the good news just keeps on coming because Watson is also set to star in the fantasy project, which is being compared to the all-encompassing series Game of Thrones. According to Variety, Warner Bros. has already secured the rights to the books that the movie(s) will be based upon, but as of now they are still searching for a director and screenwriter.
Queen of the Tearling is the first book in Erika Johansen's fantasy trilogy that takes place in an alternate 2014, three centuries after an environmental catastrophe. Watson will star as 19-year-old princess Kelsea Glynn, who must defeat the Red Queen to reclaim her deceased mother's throne in the kingdom of the Tearling. It sounds like an amazing mix of Game of Thrones and Alice in Wonderland. Can we reserve our tickets now?

Although the era surrounding her reality show The Simple Life has Paris Hilton as America's "it girl," recent years (ever since the Kardashian klan kruised in) have pushed her to the background of pop culture. But with a cameo in Sofia Coppola's Bling Ring and a new album that is nearly complete, Paris is pouncing back into action. As the Hilton heiress would say, "That's hot!"
It was seven years ago that Paris released her last musical effort, her self-titled album, which included the Billboard's Top 10 single "Stars Are Blind." Now, the occasional music artist, who recently signed with Lil Wayne's Cash Money Records, reveals that her follow-up album is "almost finished."
In an interview with The Daily Beast, the socialite shared a few details about her revived music career. "I'm in the studio and almost finished with the album ... they're just finishing up all the paperwork and there will be an announcement soon." Hilton adds, "Lil Wayne and some other surprise guests will be on the album, and it's going to be so sick. It's an electropop album with some dance-y songs."I for one am was a sucker for Paris' 2006 track "Nothing in this World." Despite the obviously auto-tunned vocals, the beat is catchy and the lyrics are a lot of fun. If Paris' future album features tunes anything like her old jams, I know I'll order myself a copy.

Before The Bling Ring hits theaters on June 21, take an extended behind-the-scenes look at the film in this new featurette. Director Sofia Coppola sought to tell a story from the perspective of the circle of criminal teens who wished to live the lifestyle of celebrities like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. They wanted it so badly that they stole about $3 million worth of cash and belongings before getting caught.
Emma Watson goes full-on valley girl for the film, complete with Hollywood accent, revealing clothes, and a horribly spoiled personality. It looks like Hermione's traded in her magic wand for a whole lot of shoes.

James Franco has confessed to sleeping with Lindsay Lohan - in new movie This Is The End. The 127 Hours star was briefly romantically linked to the troubled actress, and earlier this year (13) he told shock jock Howard Stern he turned down a night of passion with Lohan when they were both staying at famous Los Angeles hotspot, Chateau Marmont.
Franco told the radio host, "She was having issues even then, so you feel weird. Honestly, she was a friend. I've met a lot of people that are troubled and sometimes you don't want to do that."
But, in his riotous new comedy, in which Franco plays an exaggeration of himself, the actor reveals he slept with Lohan after she mistook him for Jake Gyllenhaal.
He says, "I told her to call me Prince of Persia" - a reference to Gyllenhaal's 2010 movie flop Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
The new film, in which Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride and Jay Baruchel all play themselves, also features Rihanna, Emma Watson, Mindy Kaling and Channing Tatum, among others, and a stunning cameo from the Backstreet Boys.
In the movie, Franco and his pals face the apocalypse after a party at the actor's pretentious new Hollywood home.

To add to the hype surrounding this summer's apocalyptic film This Is The End, your favorite clan of comics reunited to make their own spin on MTV's reality show The Real World (watch above). After you watch Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, James Franco, and Jay Baruchel in The Real World: This Is The End Edition, I promise that you will never want to go back to watching MTV's legitimate version ever again.
The mini-episode starts off claiming that "s**t gets real" when these four stars (along with a Hooters girl and Playboy model) are trapped in the post-apocalyptic Real World: Portland house together. From arranging sleeping situations and arguing over who left the toilet seat up to casual bickering over McBride peeing literally everywhere, s**t truly does get real with this rollicking gang.
A hilarious highlight is when the married Rogen, who is attempting to "get his cheat on" while flirting with the hot babes, unknowingly allows one of his testicless to hang out of his shorts. But fear not: Franco graciously shoves his pal's genitalia back in for him. But before you deem Franco a great guy, the actor sneakily steals Rogen's peanut butter.
If This Is The End is anything like this chuckle-prompting clip, we can't wait to see what else this cast has in store when the movie premieres June 11th.
