Character bio: Walken gives one of the better performances of his career as Frank Abagnale Sr., a down-on-his-luck store owner hounded by the IRS whose 17-year-old son Frank Jr. manages to make the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List as a master of deception and forgery. Yet, it’s Frank Sr.’s problems that drive his son away, after Frank Jr., sees his parents’ marriage break up. Frank Sr. is a sad man who knows the apple doesn’t fall from the tree but who is too proud to admit his mistakes–even to his son.
