Thanks to years and years of reality television, we’ve already seen celebrities sing, eat cockroaches, and ice skate–but it seems none of these activities compare to seeing their attempts at capturing the grace of the Viennese Waltz.
Years ago, if I would have walked into a TV executive’s office and told him the eyes of the nation would one day be glued to a ballroom dancing competition between A.C. Slater and a retired NFL great, I would have been led out in a straightjacket.
But tonight, after climbing over the likes of Jerry Springer, Joey(or is it just Joe now?) Lawrence, Vivica A. Fox, and Tucker Carlson, Saved by the Bell‘s Bayside High alum Mario Lopez and former Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith strut their final stuff in a head to head competition for millions to see.
Last season’s finale didn’t bode well for the football player as Jerry Rice was overcome by Nick’s bro Drew Lachey, so Smith, along with his partner Cheryl Burke hope to better represent the league’s dancing skills by dominating Lopez and partner Karina Smirnoff.
