Even with “Oscar season” yet to come, it’s safe to say that Little Miss Sunshine is one of the year’s very best. This inspirational, hilariously sad dysfunctional-family-road-trip dramedy offers absolutely everything--except pretension.

In a cross between Finding Nemo and Madagascar, with a little Lion King thrown in for good measure, Disney’s The Wild is just plain old tired derivativeness. Maybe we should chalk this one up to bad timing.

Curious George certainly caters to the six and under set. But take comfort in knowing that bolstered by rich animation, comic antics and a pop soundtrack, Curious George is an adorable and heartening adaptation that does the classic children’s tale justice.

All Derailed has going for it is its aesthetics. The actors look oh-so-pretty, prancing mischievously through dimly lit Chicago. But there's nothing here we haven't seen before.

A History of Violence is an incredibly fascinating glimpse into the deconstruction of a family and an even more enthralling look at the price of heroism. It falls just short of being one of the year's best, but it's still one of the most inventive stories to come around in a long time.
