Cast & Plot
Based on Jane Austen’s classic novel, Sense and Sensibility follows sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood after their family loses its estate following their father’s death. Forced to start over in a modest cottage, the sisters navigate love, heartbreak, and family expectations while approaching life in very different ways.

Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as the thoughtful Elinor Dashwood, while Esmé Creed-Miles plays her passionate younger sister, Marianne. The cast also includes Caitríona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood, George MacKay as Edward Ferrars, Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings, Frank Dillane as John Willoughby, Herbert Nordrum as Colonel Brandon, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Margaret Dashwood.
The adaptation is directed by Georgia Oakley from a screenplay by bestselling author Diana Reid. Production began in the United Kingdom, with filming already underway.
Sense and Sensibility Release Date
Sense and Sensibility is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on October 16, 2026. The film was originally slated for an earlier September release before Focus Features moved it to its current October date.
