The first trailer for Shrek 5 has officially arrived, giving fans a long-awaited look at the next chapter in DreamWorks’ beloved animated franchise. The sequel reunites the original trio of Shrek, Fiona and Donkey while introducing a new generation of characters as the ogre family embarks on another adventure in Far Far Away.
More than 17 years after the release of Shrek Forever After, the franchise is returning to the big screen.

The trailer opens with a storybook-style recap of Shrek’s original fairy tale before quickly shifting into a new adventure. Donkey interrupts the narration, setting the tone for the sequel’s signature humor.
Several memorable moments include a parody snowman character, the return of fan-favorite Gingy and a chaotic sequence that ultimately lands Shrek, Fiona, their children and Donkey behind bars. Cast and Plot
Mike Myers returns to voice Shrek, alongside Cameron Diaz as Fiona and Eddie Murphy as Donkey.
The sequel also introduces Shrek and Fiona’s now-adult children. Zendaya joins the cast as Felicia, while comedian Marcello Hernandez and actor Skyler Gisondo voice Fergus and Farkle. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the trailer suggests the family will become involved in a new crisis.
Release Date
Shrek 5 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 30, 2027. The film marks the first main installment in the franchise since 2010’s Shrek Forever After and follows the success of the Puss in Boots spin-off films.
With the original cast returning and a new generation joining the story, Shrek 5 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated animated releases of 2027.
