Aubrey Plaza Welcomes First Child With Christopher Abbott

Aubrey Plaza has welcomed her first child with fellow actor Christopher Abbott, marking a major new chapter for the Parks and Recreation star.

Plaza and Abbott have largely kept their relationship private since romance rumors surrounding the pair first surfaced in 2025. The actors initially met while working together on the 2020 psychological drama Black Bear, where they played filmmakers caught in an increasingly complicated and surreal situation.

The couple later reunited professionally for the 2023 Off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. Their relationship remained mostly out of the public eye until Plaza’s pregnancy was revealed earlier this year.

According to reports, Plaza gave birth in late July. She was reportedly seen with the newborn while out in New York City on August 9. Representatives for both actors have not publicly commented on the birth.

Plaza previously confirmed her pregnancy in April, sharing her excitement about becoming a parent. The arrival of her first child comes after an especially difficult period in her personal life following the death of her former husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, in January 2025.

Plaza and Baena had been together for many years and married in 2021. Baena, who directed Plaza in several films including Life After Beth, The Little Hours and Spin Me Round, died at age 47.

Abbott, meanwhile, has built an acclaimed career across film, television and theater. His credits include Girls, Catch-22, The Sinner and Poor Things, as well as numerous independent films.

While Plaza and Abbott have chosen to keep much of their personal lives away from the spotlight, the birth of their first child represents an important new beginning for the pair.

For now, fans will likely have to wait for the actors to decide when — or if — they want to share more about their growing family.
