Predicting this weekend's box office is enough to drive anyone a little "Nutty." If Eddie Murphy's "Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps" has big legs, it stands to hold on to the top spot. The PG-13-rated comedy sequel from Universal and Imagine Entertainment could drop 50% from last weekend's $42.5 million opening and still place first with around $21 million. Directed by Peter Segal, it stars Eddie Murphy, Janet Jackson and Larry Miller. Columbia's opening of its R-rated sci-fi thriller "

HOLLYWOOD, July 27, 2000 -- First Winona Ryder snagged Richard Gere in "Autumn in New York," and now Angelina Jolie is doing the older man-younger woman romance thing. Variety reports that Jolie is in negotiations to star with Kevin Costner in "Beyond Borders," a forthcoming Oliver Stone movie about -- get this -- a romance between international relief workers. It's a role that was previously offered both to Catherine Zeta-Jones and Meg Ryan, both of whom declined. Variety says Jolie, who last

PASADENA, Calif., July 24, 2000 -- If ABC was glitter and NBC was substance, Fox tried to impress the critics with both as it trotted out two days worth of very fancy food and a line-up heavy on new shows for the fall season. Gail Berman, the new Fox Network president, swore that the crash and burn of several predecessors didn't faze her at all. But the death of sex-and-angst dramas "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Party of Five" may have, so Fox is banking on two dysfunctional family sitcoms, "Titus

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 28, 2000 -- The last time an epic fantasy miniseries came along, it was NBC's exercise in stamina "The 10th Kingdom." We suggested then that you wait until the next sweeps period for impresario Robert Halmi Sr.'s more promising "Arabian Nights" (8-10 p.m., tonight, and 9-11 p.m., Monday, ABC). Well, the sweeps are here again, and "Arabian Nights" has been worth the wait. Filmed in exotic Turkish and Moroccan locations, it features very cool and moody visual effects,

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 6, 2000 -- As the box-office turns: Is Julia Roberts still the best thing going? Or will Samuel L. Jackson open up a can of whoop-you-know-what and knock her off her pedestal? This weekend, four new movies hit theaters nationwide ("Rules of Engagement," "Black and White," "Ready To Rumble" and "Return to Me") but experts think that only "Rules," starring Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones, has the cojones to kick Julia's box-office butt and end the three-weekend-long reign
