Ron Howard’s beautifully framed The Da Vinci Code sticks to author Dan Brown’s controversial wild goose-chase thriller pretty religiously. But the movie’s faithfulness to the book poses some inherent problems, including keeping your attention for two and a half hours.

Here’s a rumor for ya: this is pretty bland stuff, despite all the clever people involved and good intentions to pull off a hip dramedy. Ultimately, Rumor Has It doesn’t know what it wants to be.

Perhaps if Friday Night Lights was the first high school football story to come to the big screen, it would be one of the best. Even though the film does sport some superb performances and tackles gritty realism with gusto, it isn't the first to do that--far from it.

While it is a fast-paced and entertaining movie, the story, characters and dialogue will leave you feeling unfulfilled; for the most part, A Man Apart is a sequence of thrills in more need of brains than Diesel's brawn

If you enjoyed the book (or at least can take some kids with you who did), go watch it played out on screen--just don't expect magic to happen.
