  • Contagion Review
By: Matt Patches September 09, 2011 10:29am EST
A reality-first thriller that'll leave you running for the shower—in a good way.
  • The Rite Review
By: Thomas Leupp January 28, 2011 7:17am EST
The devil is real, and he's an inveterate scenery-chewer.
  • Witless Protection Review
By: Mark Burger February 22, 2008 4:44am EST
What should be the worst movie of the year, if not all time, is instead a reasonably passable vehicle for Larry the Cable Guy. No kidding.
  • Fred Claus Review
By: Kit Bowen November 12, 2007 10:44am EST
Fred Claus is pure Vince Vaughn hijinks—but the PG, family-friendly mode may not be his most advantageous venue.
  • Stranger Than Fiction Review
By: Brian Marder November 10, 2006 1:14pm EST
Stranger Than Fiction has the pedigree to be quirkily great. For some people, that will be enough to trick themselves into loving it. But the non-fiction here is that the greatness begins and ends with the movie's marvelous title.
  • All the King's Men Review
By: Kit Bowen September 25, 2006 10:37am EST
Basically, this remake of All the King's Men is a nice way to take a two-hour nap, despite Sean Penn’s fervent attempts to wake you up.
  • Derailed Review
By: Brian Marder November 14, 2005 6:08am EST
All Derailed has going for it is its aesthetics. The actors look oh-so-pretty, prancing mischievously through dimly lit Chicago. But there's nothing here we haven't seen before.
  • The Weather Man Review
By: Scott Huver October 28, 2005 8:12am EST
Don’t be fooled by the The Weather Man’s marketing approach. It appears to be a laugh-riot comedy fueled by flying fast food and Nicolas Cage meltdowns. But the film is really a thoughtfully assembled, terrifically acted existential journey of a man coming to grips with his own mediocrity.
  • Roll Bounce Review
By: Brian Marder September 23, 2005 5:36am EST
Roll Bounce is a breath of fresh air, to be certain. It could've benefited by steering clear of its sappy subplot but will still offer some pleasant nostalgia for adults--and Bow Wow for the kids.
  • The Amityville Horror Review
By: Kit Bowen April 15, 2005 3:57am EST
As far as good haunted house movies go, The Amityville Horror remake actually surpasses the original and delivers the hide-behind-the-hands effects with aplomb.
