Kelly Osbourne has spoken out after she was accused of swearing and shouting at a reporter during a recent interview in Australia, insisting she was simply trying to avoid answering questions about her family problems. The reality TV star recently jetted Down Under to promote her new role as a columnist for an Australian magazine, but she hit headlines when she launched into a foul-mouthed tirade during an interview for the Sydney Daily Telegraph.
When asked whether her life has improved since she wrote her first column, which was titled Life Is Just S**t Sometimes, Osbourne replied, "You are trying to f**king turn this around and get s**t on my family, aren't you?" while the reporter wrote he had been "screamed at" and described her behaviour as "brattish".
Osbourne has now released a statement to explain her reaction: "During my interview with The Daily Telegraph on Sunday I spoke about a million things; everything from Joan Rivers, the colour of my hair and of course the subjects I will be writing about (in the magazine column). When the questioning veered towards my parents, I naturally became protective. My family mean the world to me and I will defend them to the grave."
Osbourne's father, Ozzy, recently admitted he is battling drink and drug problems again after suffering a relapse, amid rumours he is living apart from his wife, Sharon.
The Fashion Police star has endured a turbulent trip Down Under - the interview outburst came just days after she became embroiled in a spat with a security guard at a casino when she was asked to show identification before entering.
However, Osbourne refused to let the troubles sour her trip, and tweeted on Wednesday (01May13), "I have had the best time being in Australia... I cant wait to come back!!!!!"

Kelly Osbourne is still no closer to finding out what caused a seizure, nearly two months after she collapsed on the set of her TV show. The reality TV star, daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, was admitted to hospital in Los Angeles in early March (13) after she suffered a frightening health scare while filming her small screen style series Fashion Police.
Doctors later concluded Osbourne had suffered a seizure, but the star admits she still hasn't been given an official diagnosis and has no clue what brought it on.
She tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "I still have absolutely no idea what caused it. But if there was something positive to come out of it, it's that I've started looking into what might have happened and what different foods do to your body and it's made me an even healthier person."
Osbourne is now considering cutting out tea, coffee and fizzy drinks after hearing that caffeine could be a factor, adding, "Some say caffeine can have a certain effect on you so it's things like that (I've learned). I don't want to be a sob story and make it sound like I want people to feel sorry for me or something (but) it was completely terrifying.
"What most people don't know is everyone will experience some sort of seizure in their life. Mine just happened in front of everybody."

Kelly Osbourne has declared she will not set foot in Russia until jailed punk stars Pussy Riot are released from prison. Two members of the Russian girl group, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alekhina, are currently serving two-year prison sentences for performing a protest song against President Vladimir Putin at a Moscow church.
Madonna and Sir Paul McCartney are among the famous faces who have spoken out in support of the jailed musicians, and now Kelly Osbourne has thrown her weight behind a campaign to free the women.
She has even vowed not to visit Russia until the pair is released from prison.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "I support the Vagina Riots (Pussy Riot) and will never go back to Russia until they are released!... Pussy Riots (sic) for life!"
The two jailed rockers are currently appealing against their convictions.

Sharon Osbourne and her daughter Kelly have joined forces to front a new breast cancer campaign in the U.K. The rock matriarch underwent a double mastectomy last year (12) over fears she could develop the deadly disease, and now she is pushing home the importance of raising funds for cancer research in a new campaign for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.
The shopping initiative encourages women to donate to cancer charities by purchasing clothes, and the fashion-savvy Osbournes embrace in a touching photo promoting the drive.
Sharon says, "Every year Fashion Targets Breast Cancer unites people for this vitally important cause, a cause that is particularly close to my heart. I hope that everyone in the U.K. really embraces the campaign this year - it's vital that their scientists can keep making breakthroughs to improve the lives of women affected by the disease."
Former rocker Pearl Lowe and her model daughter Daisy are also involved with the campaign. The ex-Powder frontwoman adds, "Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is a legendary campaign and this year's theme of uniting mothers and daughters really brought it home for me. We must raise money for breast cancer research now to make a difference for our daughters in the future."

Reality TV star Kelly Osbourne has learned to appreciate her health after suffering a terrifying seizure last month (Mar13), insisting the 60-second medical scare changed her life forever. The daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne was hospitalised in Los Angeles after she collapsed on the set of her U.S. TV show Fashion Police.
Now Osbourne has opened up about the incident, admitting the health scare has made her feel grateful for her body and spurred her on to achieve her fitness goals, following her 70-pound (32-kilogram) weight loss since 2009.
She tells Self magazine, "I never want to take my good health for granted. The seizure was 60 seconds, but those 60 seconds will change my life for the better forever. I've worked hard to get in shape, and I'm going to continue. Not because being skinny is important, but because I want to feel good."
The 28 year old, who posed in a bikini for the publication's cover, now feels more "secure and content" than ever before.
She adds, "I don't compare myself to anybody else. It's OK to have a healthy envy and look up to somebody and set goals, but you have to realise that you're never going to be exactly that person. Wishing you were Angelina Jolie or J.Lo (Jennifer Lopez) isn't going to change the fact that you're not. Why not start working with what you do have instead of what you don't?"
