Actress Emma Roberts has landed a role in boyfriend Evan Peters' creepy U.S. drama series just weeks after learning her new TV pilot, based on sci-fi novel Delirium, was rejected by network executives. The Scream 4 star has signed up to join the cast of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story: Coven, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She'll play a party girl in the third season of the acclaimed show.
Peters has already been confirmed as a returning cast member and his previously announced co-stars for the new season include Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe and Kathy Bates, while Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Frances Conroy will also return.
It is still not clear what will become of Roberts' small screen adaptation of Delirium, Lauren Oliver's novel about a teen in a dystopian future where love is outlawed. The show was initially approved by executives at the Fox network, but they decided to pass on the project after viewing the pilot episode.
Taking to her Twitter.com blog on 9 May (13), Roberts shared her dismay with fans, writing, "Sad about Delirium. Thank you guys so much for your support!!!"

Now that's how you stack a cast. Ryan Murphy has added Broadway star Patti LuPone and Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett to the already impressive roster of killer female talent slated to appear in the third iteration of American Horror Story.
Two legends are joining the cast of American Horror Story: Coven -- Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and Tony winner Patti LuPone!

American Horror Story: Coven (as the third season is dubbed), has already confirmed several new faces to the series, including Gabourey Sidibe and Kathy Bates. And all of these new ladies will be joining returning actors Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy and Lily Rabe. Sounds like the only-announced male actor thus far, Evan Peters, will be having whatever the opposite of a sausage party is (a pocket party) on that set.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, details about characters and plots are being kept under lock-and-key, which means only one thing: time to speculate! Anyone else hope this season willl be a darker twist on the coven of witches from Hocus Pocus? Murphy has already said this season will be a more comedic take on the idea of horror that revolves around Lange. So, the question begs: Will Lange be a fierce queen witch or THE fierce queen witch? One can only hope.

Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn and caldron bubble! We apologize if this all sounds like a bunch of hocus pocus to all of you, but we’ve just returned from PaleyFest, where American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy revealed new details about the highly anticipated third season.
Keeping with the tradition of Asylum, Murphy confirmed that the next season of the FX hit will also features a subtitle that will describe the general theme of the season. Get ready, horror fans, because American Horror Story: Coven will soon cast a spell on a TV screen near you.

Although Murphy wouldn’t divulge further details on the significance of “Coven,” the term strongly indicates what many fans have been speculating for months — Season 3 will revolve around witches. Murphy offered, “It's a really cool story that we've been talking for a couple years, and this seemed to be the year to do it.”
Murphy already revealed that the new season will once again center on Jessica Lange, but this time the captivating actress will portray a more “glamour cat” type character. Lange quipped to the packed PaleyFest theater, "I don't know what a glamour cat is, but I am excited,"

Kathy Bates — who has been confirmed to star in the next season — made a surprise appearance at the panel. Bates admitted that she has been a big fan of American Horror Story and religiously watches each and every episode. "I've loved it from the very beginning," Bates said, "I called up Jessica and told her to talk to Ryan and tell him I'd do anything on the show."
Little did she know, Murphy had already decided that Bates would be the perfect actress to help lead the wicked new season. The showrunner teased Bate’s role as a "cuckoo-for-Cocoa Puffs character" who is reported to be the best friend-turned-enemy of Lange's character. “I wanted to see a lot of scenes with Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates going at it, and that's what you're going to see," he said to the roar of fans.

While Frances Conroy has already revealed that season three of AHS would largely take place in New Orleans, Murphy confirmed that New Orleans is just one of the cities in which Coven will take place. "The fun thing is researching what are the really haunted places in America, and we have a couple doozy locales," he said.
During the panel, Murphy also boasted that fans should not worry about American Horror Story disappearing anytime soon. The creator said he still has plenty of ideas for upcoming seasons that he could see 10 years' worth of stories — and maybe even a spin-off. "I have been talking to John [Landgraf] about doing a companion piece to American Horror Story," Murphy said with a coy smile.

One of the short films debuting at the 2013 SXSW festival in Austin this year, Sequin Raze tries to get to the gritty, oft depressing under belly of reality dating shows like The Bachelorette. The always-great Anna Camp (from Pitch Perfect, True Blood, and The Mindy Project) plays a dating show contestant who has just been dumped by her televised suitor, all for the amusement of a national audience.
RELATED: SXSW 2013: Our 5 Must-See Movies
The long-underrated Ashley Williams (How I Met Your Mother and Something Borrowed) plays the exhausted producer, who despite being entirely aware she has sold her soul for the sake of a soulless television show, does everything in her power to get the sobbing concession speech she needs from her rejected contestant. A battle of wits unfolds, with the audience never knowing who to really root for in this situation or to believe. Is Camp's beauty queen really as crafty and smart as she seems, or is she as broken as all the other women who appear on these shows? Is Williams' tattered producer as empathetic as she seems, or does she play up her feelings in order to get that money shot?
RELATED: The 2013 SXSW Film Lineup
Sequin Raze doesn't really answer any of those questions, though it does put the sick, sad world of reality television dating — and what it does to one's psyche — under a much-needed microscope. Camp and Williams are both effective and believable in their respective roles (their television experience shines through, making the most of a short period of time), but unfortunately, Sequin Raze only scratches the surface of its story and under-utilizes having Frances Conroy, who plays another blood-hungry reality television producer, at their disposal. Though a fascinating slice of Americana and keeps you wondering who will win their emotional and mental tennis match, other SXSW shorts may find themselves getting a rose from moviegoers instead of Sequin Raze.

Frances Conroy has contributed quite a bit to the chill factor of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story. The first season paired her with Alexandra Breckenridge as the dual incarnations of the haunted house's maid Moira. In the second run, Conroy played the Angel of Death, pushing sufferers over the edge into oblivion. But since it was confirmed that Conroy would be returning for a third year of the FX series, fans have wondered exactly what role she'd be playing. Conroy is wondering the same thing.
"I'll be in it pretty significantly," the Murphy mainstay tells ETOnline. "I'll be doing about 10 of the 13 episodes, but beyond that, we don't know anything yet. I'm waiting to see what's written to see who I'll be playing."
RELATED: Kathy Bates In Talks to Join 'American Horror Story' Season 3
But there was one long awaited piece of information that Conroy was able to share: "I haven't seen any scripts yet, so all I know is that it's going to be in New Orleans and who will be involved. Beyond that, it's a matter of waiting for the wonderful writers to create the next world for us to inhabit."
The actress has a bit of a history of playing disturbing, nightmarish characters. "I played something like that years ago in a production of a George Adams play, and I loved it this time around too. It was yet another gift from Ryan [Murphy, creator] in that he allowed me to play this fantastic creature that I hadn't gotten to do in a while."

If FX continues to produce further seasons of American Horror Story, it doesn't seem as though Conroy would mind sticking around: "I think Ryan has a very keen eye and he's always studying the people who are working with him. He just senses things about you and will write something for you that's just fantastic and you totally didn't anticipate."
Following the first two twisted volumes of the show, what do we anticipate for Murphy's third go-'round?

Kathy Bates is in talks to join Season 3 of American Horror Story. She is nearing a deal that will pit her against Jessica Lange’s character on the FX horror show, TVLine reports.
If the Oscar winner does the smart thing and joins the revamped season, she will play Lange's best-friend-turned-nemesis. Lange, the resident scene-chewer in the series, will play a “glamour cat leading lady,” according to series co-creater Ryan Murphy. Can you imagine the high-caliber bitch-off we'll see between these two? And no doubt Bates will bring a certain spook factor of her own to the show, especially considering Misery still gives us nightmares.

After the first season of the hit FX show, Murphy said that each season will be a totally different story using some of the same actors, but it different roles. While other details on Season 3 remain secret, Murphy previously revealed that it will be "more historical in nature" and take place in modern day, unlike last season which was set mostly in the '60s. But just like past seasons, we will see different "time periods" and "there [will] also be different cities." Other returning favorites are Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga and Bates’ former Six Feet Under bestie Frances Conroy.
While the deal (with the devil) hasn't been signed, you know that I'll be sacrificing virgins to Satan (or Ryan Murphy, same thing) to make it come true.
