  • The Best and Worst of Emmy's Fashion
By: Jenny Dayco August 25, 2010 4:50am EST
As all TV shows are edited, celebrities' fashion choices should be edited as well. Especially for the red carpet! Some celebrities use the red carpet as their personal runway, other celebrities dress themselves knowing that they're going to an awards show! Here's a look at the some of the best and the worst outfits in Emmy awards history. Click the Photo to See the Entire Gallery JENNY DAYCO's BIO: Passionate and outrageously beautiful, Jenny Dayco’s line of one-of-a-kind and limited edition pieces expose a clever mix of sultry femininity with her own witty sense of humor. From gold 10 commandments necklaces to giant button necklaces—each one of her pieces speaks with its own audacious voice. Her enthusiasm radiates as she confesses that a majority of her designs contain a level of witty humor, intended to be almost something secret for just the wearer to know. "My hope is that with every piece of mine that is worn, the wearer is able to experience an enigmatic yet laugh-out-loud kind of joy," says Dayco. What attracts her are elements that have a story or are a symbol for something. She also finds herself fascinated and inspired by nature, "…animals such as a horse or jellyfish, whose forms are so unique and amazing." There's no limit to her jewelry design in terms of simplifying or amplifying her pieces. Oftentimes, she enjoys taking one idea, and then cranking it up several more notches. Former graphic designer and former talent agent, Jenny is self-taught in the art of jewelry designing and works instinctively from the gut while her hands brilliantly produce each and every single piece. "I just love making things that are insane and fantastic, pushing my own understanding of beauty and adornment on the body," Dayco gushes. "I love creating pieces that make people feel confident and bring them joy." • Banks upset by new Top Model commercial
    By: WENN.com Source August 17, 2010 5:00am EST
In the ad, Banks appeared to be amazed at a tall model's tiny waist and judge J. Alexander was featured clasping his hands around her minuscule frame and touching his fingers. The retired catwalk star admits she was stunned when she saw the commercial - and has now apologised to fans who were appalled by what they saw. In a statement released to U.S. TV news show Entertainment Tonight, she writes, "In an effort to create a fun and entertaining sneak peak of the upcoming cycle, America's Next Top Model released a trailer that was edited in way that misconstrued our overarching message. As a leader in celebrating and promoting healthy body image, I must admit that I regrettably didn't see this clip before it was released to the public. "On behalf of the Top Model team, these were not the intentions, and we truly apologize for any confusion, anger or disappointment it (trailer) may have caused. "The passionate response the trailer has evoked proves that the message to promote and celebrate all different - healthy and natural - body types has resonated with our viewers and I'm so proud of every one of you who voiced your opinion and participated in this conversation. "I have experienced body image scrutiny from one extreme to the next... (and) I am committed to expanding the definition of beauty which includes ALL shapes, sizes and proportions, from skinny to curvy and everything in between. "During this season of Top Model, you will see that Ann (the woman featured in the trailer) provided another opportunity for me to support a young woman struggling with her own body image issues... Helping young ladies, like Ann, and countless others that have confided in me, furthers and supports my core mission."
  • Model Curry 'molested' at Star Wars convention
    By: WENN.com Source August 16, 2010 10:15am EST
The brunette beauty, a self-confessed fan of the sci-fi franchise, was among the hundreds of devotees who flocked to the Star Wars Celebration V event on Saturday (14Aug10), where creator George Lucas unveiled a never-before-seen clip from Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. But Curry, who attended in a skimpy costume, claims her celebrations came to an abrupt end after an unknown man reached up her skirt and groped her outside the convention's venue. Curry reported the alleged molestation to police in the early hours of Sunday (15Aug10) and officers arrived on the scene at around 3am, according to TMZ.com. In the official police report, obtained by TMZ.com, the cop claims he "came in contact with the male as he lay in the bushes at the entrance to the hotel". He was also alleged to have attempted to start fights with other people waiting outside the convention and he was later arrested for disorderly intoxication. But Curry was left reeling from the incident. Taking to her Twitter.com page, she writes, "cops are here..molesting pervert drunk in the back of their car...going to bed ... i cannot believe last night happened....love starwars...but ready to leave." The 28 year old won the first season of Tyra Banks' hit TV model search in 2003 and she is married to The Brady Bunch actor Christopher Knight.

  • 'The Real Housewives of D.C.' Recap: Welcome to the District
By: Hannah Lawrence August 06, 2010 8:06am EST
'The Real Housewives of D.C.': Welcome to the District S1:E1 Last night was the premiere of The Real Housewives of D.C., and it solidified Bravo’s dedication towards showing us what good wives are like: they argue Bush was a better president than Obama, install fingerprint locks on their closets, and criticize each other for the way their bodies do not adequately represent what “food intake” is. Nothing really happened last night. Most of the episode was spent introducing us to the women – only one of which I like very much. Her name is Stacie, and she was born and raised in D.C. She went to Harvard and is now a multi-million dollar real estate agent and was BFFs with President Obama before he moved on up to the White House. She pointed out that living in the suburbs of D.C. is very different than living in DC, and I agree because I always hate it when people from Long Island say they live in NYC, and I know people who live in Chicago hate it when people say they live in Chicago, but receive their Zappos.com deliveries in Oak Park. Stacie’s a tough cookie. She has two kids, a nice husband, and likes Tyra Banks – her report card so far is quite solid. Then we met Mary, who doesn’t do anything besides mother five children, coach her husband on how to wear pastel-colored pants, and endlessly talk about she’s the granddaughter of Aurthur Godfrey (who?) and the days she spent peeing in the Kennedy’s pool. She’s good but not great – kind of like mushroom soup. She’s the one who put a fingerprint lock on her door, which as someone’s daughter, I don’t appreciate. Next was Lynda, who owns D.C.’s top modeling agency and who dates a tall handsome black man named Ebong. Those were the only two things I found interesting about her. I hope she can do better than that later on in the season. Cat is British, and just moved to D.C. with her two children be with her new husband, who’s a photographer at the White House. She occasionally models for him when she’s not putting the finishing touches on her book, called “Inbox Full.” I’m surprised her publisher didn’t tell her this was a bad title because if you have Goggle Mail, your inbox is never full and you can write as many emails about Joe Biden, the proper spelling of “color” and 8 carat bangle bracelets as you want. She’s the one who bashed President Obama and called Bush a genuine “class act,” and she essentially screwed herself out of these recaps because I will not stand for that. Last but not least we met Michaele, who invented her own drug she uses in place of what normal people call “nutrients” and “fuel” to power herself through days of organizing polo matches, crashing White House dinners she wasn’t invited to, and staying in hotels when she’s in D.C. because it’s easier to do that than drive back to her mansion in Virginia’s wine country. After we met everyone we saw Michaele and her husband, Tareq, at what appeared to be a charity polo match. Michaele described herself as a “motivator,” but not even the “motivators” I know (the cows and chickens outside Stew Leonard’s) are nearly as enthusiastic as she was – and they get free ice cream and get to pose with all the babies they want! Everyone thought Michaele was insane, because not even pigeons can be in that many places at once. We also watched as Stacie had famed celebrity chef, Cheo, over to her house to teach the women how to cook a little better. But things quickly turned into a debate of how Bush was a better president and a better man than Barack Obama (trumpets, fireworks, kazoos, America!) is. Stacie and Cheo did not care for this one bit, and they wanted to tear her and her knickers apart because she's British, what does she know! She comes from a monarchy! I’m not sure there’ll be the knock down, drag out cat fights we saw in Atlanta and in New Jersey and in New York, but Bravo’s record is quite pristine in these matters and they generally know what they’re doing. I have high expectations for them. If the show will be anything like its predecessors, we’ll be well taken care of in the upcoming months.

  • Cutting Kristen Stewart some slack and the fate of 'The Hobbit': Movie Musings
By: Laremy Legel June 04, 2010 5:10am EST
    1. We Should Cut Kristen Stewart Some Slack. Earlier in the week, when pondering the nature of photo shoots, Kristen Stewart was quoted as saying:"The photos are so ... I feel like I'm looking at someone being raped. A lot of the time I can't handle it." This is, at the very least, an insensitive statement. But let's consider the context here. Kristen Stewart is 20, and she's been in the public eye since she was twelve. Think of the mistakes you made at 20. Now think of doing a couple hundred hours of press a year. How many strange things would you say? If you were constantly asked the same question, how long would it take you to get tired and start throwing out some nonsense? Yes, it's true that K-Stew doesn't love being in the public eye, but it's pretty strange that our culture thinks lesser of her for that. What if Ms. Stewart just wants to act, to create? Why should knowing how to give a bland interview have anything to do with that process? Detractors will point out that by accepting the role of Bella Swan she gave up any hope of a non-celebrity life. But she made that call when she couldn't even legally vote! Stewart is an honest person, and as such she can't fake "wanting" to participate in interviews and photo shoots. But instead of commending her for that fairly logical stance we trot her out to face the discomfort again and again. The issue isn't with Stewart. It's with our culture's constant craving for celebrity controversy. 2. Relax, The Hobbit Will Be Fine. On Tuesday Guillermo del Toro took his leave from The Hobbit. The reaction was instant, and predictable. "Oh nooooooo, The Hobbit is doooooooomed!" But c'mon. This has always been Peter Jackon's project, and Peter Jackson generally delivers. He did okay overseeing District 9, right? And he's not going to let the new director ruin his Lord of the Rings legacy. Plus, and not for nothing, Del Toro's last film was Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Did you catch that one? It wasn't very good. At all. Pan's Labyrinth is a classic, but it wasn't ever a given that Del Toro's visual style would translate to The Hobbit. So worry not fanboys and girls, we're going to make it through this just fine. And when The Hobbit and Hobbit Deux hit theaters you're going to find yourself enjoying them. Too many smart people are involved for one departing Del Toro to derail the process. 3. The Best Sex and the City Idea I Just Thought Of! I think we're long past the point where we'd expect a legitimate story out of Sex and the City 3. Which leaves only one option. Stunt casting. Throw Tilda Swinton into the mix as the new Miranda, only do it Iron Man 2 style, with no mention of it in the script. Then you could get the "Which Miranda do you prefer?" debate going. For Sex and the City 4 you give the role of Charlotte to Jennifer Aniston. Sex and the City 5: The Empire Strikes Back will feature Tyra Banks in the role of Samantha. What have you got to lose? It's about the spectacle, not the story. Which frees the casting agent up to go bonkers. I'm only partly kidding here. Let's do this! 4. Tom Selleck Threatens Civilization. Tom Selleck recently went on the record saying he'd been contacted about a project called, gulp, Three Men and a Bride. Tom Selleck! Steve Guttenberg! Ted Danson! It burns, it burns! The fact of the matter is that Three Men and a Baby was a cheesy idea when it came out 23 years ago. It's not going to come off as less cheesy now. Culture has evolved. We no longer ponder why three men can't get it together to get a paternity test. Three poppas is one too many. Now if you're willing to meet me halfway on a My Two Dads movie, I might be willing to invest. On that note, I hope you all have a great weekend, devoid of bad ideas! Check out last week's Movie Musings here Laremy is the lead critic and senior producer for a website named Film.com. He's also available on Twitter.
  • Banks 'upsets neighbours with construction works'
    By: WENN.com Source May 17, 2010 5:00am EST
The America's Next Top Model star has purchased four apartments at the Battery Park City development in Manhattan, with plans to transform the property into one massive home. The ongoing work to join Banks' apartments together has infuriated other residents, who have called police to complain about the noise, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six. Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is said to own one of the neighbouring apartments in the block.
