  • Nikki Sixx's mother dies
    By: WENN.com June 09, 2013 12:58pm EST
Motley Crue star Nikki Sixx is in mourning following the death of his mother. Deana Richards passed away of unknown causes on Saturday (08Jun13) at the age of 74. The bassist, who was primarily raised by his mum after his father Frank Serafino abandoned the family, announced the sad news on Twitter.com, writing, "RIP Mom 5-5 1939 to 6-8 2013". The rocker has yet to break his silence on the loss, but in a cryptic post on Facebook.com he appeared to make a reference to his formerly strained relationship with his mother, who also ended up leaving Sixx at a young age, forcing him to live with his grandparents. It says, "Writing a beautiful song about regret.....Pain always serves up the most brutal truth. I cannot see a ray of sunshine and not find the beauty in the inevitable rain cloud coming in behind it...I have made mistakes....Do lyrics and melody really make up for lost time? THE SAYING 'THIS TOO SHALL PASS' WORKS BOTH WAYS."
  • Tom Hanks braves rain during Lucky Guy performance after theatre leak
    By: WENN.com June 09, 2013 12:22pm EST
Actor Tom Hanks was far from a Lucky Guy on Friday night (07Jun13) when he was pelted with rain throughout his Broadway performance due to a leak in the theatre. Tropical Storm Andrea moved through New York City on Friday, dumping heavy rain across the area and causing massive flooding, and the 96-year-old Broadhurst Theater, where Hanks is currently staging his Tony Award-nominated production, was no match for Mother Nature and the building sprung a leak, soaking the entire cast. Ever the professionals, the actors carried on and the show went off without a hitch, though the group was forced to dry off backstage, according to the New York Daily News. Perhaps Hanks' luck will turn around on Sunday (09Jun13) - he is up for best actor at the 2013 Tony Awards thanks to his portrayal of the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Mike McAlary.
  • Kings of Leon debut new material at rescheduled gig
    By: WENN.com June 09, 2013 7:49am EST
Kings Of Leon treated fans to new material as they took to the stage for the rescheduled Governors Ball music festival in New York on Saturday (08Jun13). The Sex on Fire hitmakers were due to headline the Friday night (07Jun13) concert, but their set was scrapped due to strong winds and heavy rain. They were added to the Saturday concert instead after the weather cleared, and decided to show off one of their new songs from the band's upcoming album, which is set to be released in September (13). Frontman Caleb Followill told the crowd, "We're gonna play a new song we've never played before, so if we mess it up it's your fault." He then added, "How are you guys doing out there? It's a beautiful day. As you guys know we were supposed to be doing this last night, and we're supposed to be getting ready to go to London right about now... but some of our equipment had to go on ahead, but we're still going to give you our best show." Kings of Leon are set to kick off their European tour in London on Wednesday (12May13). Guns N' Roses and Kanye West also performed at the Governors Ball concerts.
  • Kings Of Leon scrap New York festival performance over extreme weather
    By: WENN.com June 08, 2013 8:16am EST
Kings Of Leon were forced to abandon their headlining set at a festival in New York on Friday (07Jun13) due to extreme weather conditions. The rockers were scheduled to take to the stage for the finale of day one of the Governors Ball Music Festival, after electronic artist Pretty Lights, but their sets were axed at late notice after organisers deemed the high winds and heavy rain too dangerous for the shows to take place. A statement posted on the festival's Facebook.com page at 9pm local time, moments before Pretty Lights was scheduled to perform, read, "Due to sustained high winds and unsafe stage conditions, Kings of Leon and Pretty Lights are unable to perform. Please get home safely. Weather looks great tomorrow." A later statement added: "The Current wind speeds have made it a safety issue to operate the stages. While Governors Ball and the acts would like for nothing more than the show to go on, the safety of our patrons, performers, and staff must always come first." The three-day festival is set to continue on Saturday and Sunday (08-09Jun13) as planned, with Guns N' Roses and Kanye West as headliners.

  • Milla Jovovich cheers up husband with nude photos
    By: WENN.com May 27, 2013 10:13am EST
Milla Jovovich has a saucy way of cheering up her husband when they are thousands of miles apart - she sends him photos of herself naked. The model-turned-actress is married to British moviemaker Paul W.S. Anderson but their busy careers can often keep the couple apart for weeks at a time. However, Jovovich ensures her man is never too lonely by sending him naked pictures of herself via cell phone text message to remind him what he is missing. Jovovich tells British magazine Hello!, "Paul sent me the funniest text the other day from the set. He said: 'In a field in the pouring rain, standing in mud...' And my answer was: 'In Cannes, drinking Champagne and standing in caviar...!' I sent him a nude picture, too, to make him feel better!"
