Hollywood veteran Richard Gere was left hurt by the lack of Academy recognition for his performance in hit movie musical Chicago after watching all of his famous co-stars earn Oscars praise for their work in the film.
Queen Latifah will lead the cast in a TV movie remake of cult 1989 film Steel Magnolias. The rapper-turned-actress will take on the role played by Sally Field in the new all African-American film, while Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott and Condola Rashad will portray characters played by Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts, respectively in the revamp. The new Steel Magnolias will debut later this year (12) on U.S. TV network Lifetime.
