The rapper-turned-actress will take on the role played by Sally Field in the new all African-American film, while Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott and Condola Rashad will portray characters played by Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts, respectively in the revamp. The new Steel Magnolias will debut later this year (12) on U.S. TV network Lifetime.
