    Maurice, the name of the clever orangutan who befriends Andy Serkis' chimp character Caesar in The Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a nod to actor Maurice Evans, who played the ape Dr. Zaius in the original Planet of the Apes film franchise - and Buck, the film's gorilla, was named after actor Buck Kartalian, who played Julius.
