Five Ways 'Entourage' Keeps Us Hanging On
July 21, 2011 7:52am ESTIt’s no secret that Entourage’s luster is a bit tarnished at this point, yet many of us continue to faithfully tune in to see what Vinnie Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his goons are up to. Now, they’re finally throwing in the towel with 8 final episodes, but just what is it about this show that kept us on the hook for those less-than-spectacular years? (Hint: It's not Vince.) Drama’s Never-Ending Delusion and Pseudo-Wisdom For some reason, seeing Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) try so hard and fail even harder time and time again is wildly entertaining, but the resolve with which he continues to pound the glitter-covered pavement in Hollywood and spew his unwarranted wisdom is what makes it so hilarious. Drama needs an acting gig, so what does he do? He tries to use SAG insurance to get calf implants after admiring Lamar Odom’s trunks. Drama is desperate to be in the new Brett Ratner flick, so what does he do? He fights tooth and nail for a role as the French bus driver. Drama finally gets a shot in Vince’s passion project, so what does he do? He insists the lead actress (Modern Family's Sofia Vergara) performed a sexual favor for him, angers her and the director in the process and loses the part. Also, the fact that Dillon is the real-life, less-successful brother to Matt Dillon doesn’t hurt. Eric Constantly Getting the Beat-down Eric (Kevin Connolly) was supposed to be the good guy, the underdog, the one we’re all rooting for. But somehow as the series went on, it was less fun to watch him succeed and more entertaining to watch him crash and burn – especially when the purveyor of pain is none other than Ari Gold. Those morning phone calls between Ari and E are something we look forward to, and yes, we don’t want E to really lose because that means Vince loses, but damn it’s wonderful to watch him squirm. Turtle Gives The Average Dude Hope We all love Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), but truth be told, in real life dudes like Turtle don’t always have the kind of luck he has. Sure, he struggles with it for the first few seasons, but then suddenly he owns a mega-successful business, is dating Jamie Lynn Sigler and fending off hot college coeds. He’s a regular Joe living the dream alongside his movie star compadre. You thought Kevin James was a lucky bastard on King of Queens? Turtle crushes that victory into tiny smithereens. Ari’s Filthy, Filthy Mouth Sure, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) makes comments about sexual conduct you might have thought weren't humanly possible. Sure, he’s so graphic sometimes his speeches would probably be more at home on Skinemax than HBO. Sure, he’s the most insensitive, offensive person to ever garner even a shred of our sympathy on national television. But no matter how uncomfortable he makes you, there is always something entirely appealing about his terrible, terrible personality. There’s something about Piven’s most famous character that makes you cheer him on and wish you had the cahones to say the despicable things he says. That mystical, inexplicable force is just one small piece of the puzzle that forces us to keep watching even when the story begins to suffer. Feeling Like a Hollywood Insider The most universal draw for the HBO series is probably the feeling of being on the inside of the Hollywood machine. We see the backhanded deals that go on behind the scenes of giant blockbuster movies. We watch Jeffrey Tambor beg and plead with Ari to get five seconds of his attention. We see Vince party with Jessica Alba. We watch Johnny Drama lose miserably against Tom Brady and Mark Wahlberg in a charity golf tournament. We see Matt Damon hounding Vin for a check for his charity. Despite its many misgivings, Entourage does give us a pseudo-look into the world we all secretly want to be a part of.

The Daily Shuffle: Betty White Declines Marine Corps Ball Invite

Over the course of the last week Marines have taken to YouTube to personally invite celebrities such as Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake to join them at the Marine Corps Ball in November. The video invite strategy was working pretty effectively up until now. Sgt. Ray Lewis recently invited the lovely Ms. White to go to the ball with him, but unfortunately she had to decline the offer stating, “I am deeply flattered and truly appreciate the invitation, as everyone knows I love a man in uniform… but unfortunately I cannot accept, as I will be taping an episode of Hot In Cleveland." That's too bad -- Betty would have been the belle of the ball. Now hopefully we can stop beating this dead horse and put the celeb invites to rest. - Access Hollywood A 15-year-old boy died of injuries sustained during an car accident on Thursday involving Lamar Odom. The L.A. Laker was in the backseat of the car when it hit a motorcycle, which then struck the unidentified boy, a pedestrian. The teen was rushed to a hospital to be treated for major injuries to his head, but despite all medical efforts, the boy passed away on Friday. Odom and wife Khloe Kardashian tweeted their condolences following the announcement stating, "My thoughts and prayers are with the young boys family..." - US The couples rumor mill has been working double time recently. Reports are claiming that Demi Lovato and Ryan Phillippe have been secretly hooking up over the last couple months (ew). One source is claiming that the relationship "was really hot and heavy for a while," adding that Lovato didn't know for sure that Phillippe was going to be a father again "until it basically happened. It kind of threw her for a loop." Things have supposedly cooled down a bit since the birth of his new daughter and the release of Lovato's newest single, Skyscraper. Lovato is 18 and Phillippe is 36. I doubt I'm the only one hoping that these creepy rumors turn out to be false. - E Online

Boy in Odom car smash dies
July 19, 2011 5:00am ESTOdom escaped unscathed when his chauffeur-driven car was involved in an accident which left a motorcyclist and a 15-year-old pedestrian in hospital in New York last week (14Jul11). The boy sustained major head injuries after the motorcyclist collided with him, and despite undergoing emergency surgery in a bid to save his life, he passed away on Friday (15Jul11). His funeral was held on Monday (18Jul11), according to TMZ.com. Odom took to his Twitter.com page to pass on his condolences, writing, "My thoughts and prayers are with the young boys (sic) family..."

July 18, 2011 6:26am ESTNick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo got married on Friday. They exchanged their vows on a cliff on Necker Island that overlooked the ocean. Even though the wedding itself was "extremely small and close family only," Lachey and Minnillo allowed cameras to document the event for a TLC wedding special. Lachey said, "We kind of wrestled with that for a while, for the obvious reasons. Having done reality TV in the past, I didn't necessarily want to jump right back into it without having thought it through to great length, and we did." Suuuuure. - Us There are rumors that say Jennifer Lopez cheated on Marc Anthony with William Levy, the telenovela star she hired to star in her "I'm Into You" video. What's interesting is that Levy separated from his wife, Elizabeth Gutiérrez, in May, and apparently he cheated on her with over 40 women. - Bossip Here are the first pictures of Victoria and David Beckham's new baby, Harper Seven. - People Lamar Odom (who's married to Khloe Kardashian) was involved in a car accident on Saturday when his driver hit a motorcyclist and a 15 year-old boy. Lamar wasn't injured but he was so upset about the accident that onlookers saw him crying at the scene. - TMZ

Kardashian's husband caught up in car accident
July 18, 2011 5:00am ESTThe basketball star's chauffeured vehicle was travelling to his cousin's funeral service when the driver allegedly collided with a motorcyclist. The incident left the biker and a 15-year-old passer-by with serious injuries, and they are both being treated at Elmhurst hospital in Queens, according to E! Online. Odom, who was in the back seat of the vehicle, was not hurt. Kardashian was not present at the time of the smash.

Kris Jenner Gets Facelift for Kim Kardashian's Wedding
July 15, 2011 10:06am ESTUsually on a girl's wedding day, everyone around her knows and understands that they cannot look better than the bride. And for the most part, the majority of the 1,000 people that have been invited to Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kris Humphries on August 20th are prepared to attend the festivities knowing they are not to upstage Kim in any way (both of Kim's sisters are expected to act appropriately as well and keep themselves in check, but this is especially true for Khloe because on her wedding day to Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom, Kim was very respectful and did not even think about stealing the spotlight away from her). However, someone who didn't get the memo about keeping a low profile on someone's wedding day is Kim's mom, Kris Jenner, who recently got a facelift in order to look her best for the big day. Naturally the decision to go under the knife and the procedure itself will be chronicled on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and in the preview clip below, we see Kris crying in the waiting room because she's nervous about the surgery and Kim attempting to console her by saying "I'm sure lots of people get scared" (she could have just recalled whether or not she was scared when she made her own transformation). Luckily for Kris, Kim doesn't seem bothered by her mother's desire to freshen up before the wedding and doesn't interpret it as a threat to hoard some attention at the nuptials...but that's probably only because Khloe hasn't pointed it out to her yet. Khloe Kardashian Apologizes for Yesterday's Nip Slip
June 08, 2011 10:05am ESTYesterday morning, Khloe Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian sat down with the crew of Fox & Friends to promote the new season of Keeping up with the Kardashians, which premieres this Sunday on E!. Of course Khloe and Kourtney talked about their sister Kim's engagement to Kris Humphries, and verified that the two of them are, in fact, having a race to get pregnant (Kourtney already has one child, Mason, with her boyfriend Scott Disick, and Khloe does not yet have children with her husband, LA Lakers star Lamar Odom). The interview was peppered with rather mundane questions, like "Kourtney, are you going to marry Scott?" and "Is Kim's engagement ring really that big?" And since the exchanges were so boring and irrelevant, viewers found themselves just suffering through the conversation UNTIL they realized that one of Khloe's nipples was kind of visible through her blouse. And if you were bored with the chit chat and resorted to just letting your eyes wander around the screen rather early into the interview, you would have seen that her nipple was out for the entire segment...which was six minutes long. It's almost impossible to find a clip of the entire thing on the internet now, but here's 23 seconds of what went down. After Kourtney and Khloe left Fox studios, Khloe's fans started tweeting at her in such force to alert her that her nipple had been out the entire time she was on television that she was forced to respond to them. She replied with, "Thank God! I fucking love nipples!!!!" and "I had a nip slip and I loved it! But my twat is fine!" and "My mom just called me saying my nip slip is 'all over the internet!' Ha! Is it weird that I love it?! Who knew nipples were so special?" Uh, I kinda did, considering that for the past week, Congressman Anthony Weiner has been taking so much shit for tweeting a picture of his penis just hanging out INSIDE his underwear. This morning, Khloe explained on her website that her stylist advised her to wear a bra with the shirt (because the sides of it were sheer), but she decided against it. She wrote, "Being the naughty girl that I am I disobeyed and went bra-less. To those I offended, I am very sorry. It was truly an accident." The video has been pulled from Fox & Friends' website, and even though the reveal probably was just an innocent mistake, let's not be so quick to discount the possibility that it was a last minute stunt meant to boost the viewership of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I mean, that's what they want us to do, right? Keep up with them?!
