It seems like only yesterday that we, as a people, collectively decided to not give a s**t that some D-list celebrities were taking part in a televised diving competition. Well, actually, it was back in January, epitomized when only 3.4 million viewers tuned in to watch Antonio Sabato Jr. win Fox's two-hour special Stars in Danger: The High Dive.

Undeterred by the utter belly flop of a concept and execution that was Stars in Danger: The High Dive, ABC is stepping to the edge with Splash on Tuesday night. Splash — which will disappoint literally dozens of people who will tune in thinking it's a remake of the Tom Hanks 1984 comedy classic about falling in love with a mermaid — is a vain attempt to take the same formula as the failed Fox special and hope the masses care about a different set of D-list celebs jumping into pools.
Hosted by Joey Lawrence (Whoa!) and Charissa Thompson, ABC is going for a much more shrewd way of getting viewers for Splash: their contestants include the likes of comedian Louie Anderson and Chelsea Lately sidekick Chuy Bravo. (You see, it's funny, because one is overweight and one is small! Whoa!) Here's what else is in store for Splash, which airs tonight on ABC at 8 PM ET.

Other "Stars" You'll Recognize (Or Not): In addition to intentional sight gags Anderson and Bravo, there's also basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nickelodeon star Drake Bell, reality star Kendra Wilkinson, actress Nicole Eggert, Cosby kid Keshia Knight Pulliam, beauty queen Katharine Webb, and pro athletes Ndamukong Suh and Rory Bushfield.
You'll Like It If: You like your reality shows with a nice serving of schadenfreude.
Top 5 Reasons You Might Want to Watch: Your DVR erased Stars in Danger: The High Dive; winter has got you so down you just want to experience a pool, even if its via a television screen; you hate quality programming on other networks like New Girl; seeing pretty ladies like Kendra in bathing suits and handsome dudes like Rory in swim trunks; and, of course, morbid curiosity (poor Chuy).
Top 5 Reasons You Might NOT Want to Watch: Side effects may include sympathy swim ear, sympathy belly flops, sympathy wearing-a-shirt-in-the-pool (poor Louie), sympathy and all-around sympathy.
Love it, or Leave it?: Leave it! The 20th anniversary edition Ron Howard's far more entertaining Splash is on Netflix!

We're just a few hours away from the announcement of the most prestigious awards ceremony in all of Hollywood when we learn the nominees for the 2013 Oscars ceremony. But we already know who won the most prestigious celebrity diving competition in all of Hollywood. (Just replace prestigious with televised, and celebrity with available.)
Antonio Sabato Jr. emerged the champion of Fox's two-hour event/tragic sideshow Stars in Danger: The High Dive because of his near flawless performance and dedication to his craft. In short, Antonio Sabato Jr. was essentially the Daniel Day-Lewis of Stars in Danger: The High Dive. The former soap opera star ended the evening with a final score of 53, narrowly edging out Baywatch actress Alexandra Paul with her score of 52.5. But, there were some other scores to take into consideration. Hollywood.com may not have been on the judges panel (even though we should have been) but that doesn't mean we weren't keeping score on our own. Here's some numbers that should have factored into the final tally: 2500: People who willingly showed up to watch this unfold right before their very eyes. 100: The percent chance Terrell Owens will wind up on Dancing with the Stars following this. 10: Unintentional hilarity of the dramatization of these "stars" actually being in real "danger". (That said, when someone who lost their arm to a shark says diving is scary, maybe it is a little dangerous.)10: The totally intentional hilarity of watching Real Housewives stars and The Shining sisters Kim Richards and Kyle Richards fall and flop off of high dives. 9.3: Unabashedly enjoying watching "Twitch" and Bethany Hamilton, especially their synchronized dive. Give them their own spin-off, Fox!9.1 Antonio Sabato Jr.'s abs9.0 Antonio Sabato Jr.'s unbearably intense intensity face. 7.3 The special legitimately showing what goes into the difficult sport of diving. 6.2: Filling the void of the Summer Olympics. 6.1: The sinking feeling that this was better than most of NBC's Olympics coverage. 3.7: Terrible diving puns from the robotic hosts, such as "Let's dive into this competition!"2.0: Number of people from Baywatch. (David Chokachi and runner-up Alexandra Paul). 1.2: Any resemblance of self-awareness, either from the competing stars or the show itself. 0: Stars who actually died from all that looming danger. -120: Minutes of your own life lost from watching this.-1000: Advertising that Jenni 'J-WOWW' Farley, the one person we were truly looking forward to watching, was actually competing in this. The Jersey Shore star sustained an injury and appeared on screen for roughly 15 minutes. Hmm, why does 15 minutes sound so familiar with this bunch?... Oscar who? This is truly the gold standard in entertainment! [Photo credit: Eric Liebowitz/FOX] More:

Hollywood D-listers: is there anything they can't do? They dance, they skate — sometimes they even cook. But now they are taking the next step, literally, onto a diving board. Tonight is the two-hour premiere of the special Stars in Danger: The High Dive on Fox (of course), in which celebrities learn complicated, Olympic-style dives with the help of Olympic medalist Troy Dumais — and then must perform them in a competition, in which the best divers move on to the next round. (You pretty much know how this reality thing works by now.)
Of course, Stars in Danger: The High Dive, which is ushering in a new wave (get it?!) of reality TV, is not to be mistaken with ABC's upcoming series Celebrity Divers in which celebrities learn complicated, Olympic-style dives and then must perform them in a competition, in which the best divers move on. Okay, so they are the same thing. But, hey, this one got here first and has a far more hilarious name.
Before these celebrities walk the plank — er, get up on the high dive to belly flop their way into our homes, hearts, and ultimately oblivion, we wanted to give you the full rundown before you tune in tonight.
"Stars" You'll Recognize: Jenni 'J-WOWW' Farley of Jersey Shore is arguably the most currently famous one of the bunch, if that doesn't tell you everything right there. There's also Antonio Sabato Jr., Terrell Owens, Bethany Hamilton, Alexandra Paul, "Twitch" from So You Think You Can Dance, and Real Housewives stars Kim Richards and Kyle Richards.
You'll Like It If: Skating with the Stars was a little too highbrow for your taste.
Top 5 Reasons You Might Want to Watch: The very good possibility that one of the competing stars will endure a painful cannonball or belly flop; Antonio Sabato Jr. in a Speedo; you get a kick out of schadenfreude (after all, this special is borrowed from a German reality TV format); you think the People's Choice Awards airing over on CBS are rigged anyway; you're actually a diver/fan of diving and are legitimately intrigued to see how these celebs fair in the sport.
5 Reasons You Might NOT Want to Watch: Prosperity, love, your children, your children's children, hope for any remaining shred of dignity for yourself and the rest of the country.
Love it, or Leave it? Love it if you will take any sort of reality television fix you can get or need something to tide you over until Celebrity Diving, leave it if you find reality television competitions more grating than swimmer's ear.

Fans of Sons of Anarchy will remember actor Johnny Lewis as the portrayer of Half-Sack Epps, war veteran and would-be gang member through the first two seasons of the FX program. But beyond the series, Lewis' memory may now have to endure much darker connotations. ABC News reports that the film and television actor, 28, was found dead outside a Los Angeles residence. Additionally, inside the home, the body of a 70-year-old woman was found; She is thought to have been murdered, with Lewis as a suspect.
On Wednesday, law enforcements visited the residence, which belonged to the woman (located in the L.A. neighborhood of Los Feliz), following reports that a woman inside was heard screaming. Following this, Lewis is said to have had a physical confrontation with two individuals, a neighbor and a handyman in the area, on the lawn of the home. Upon arrival at the scene, the police came across Lewis' body in the driveway of the home, apparently having fallen to his death from the roof.
"It appears that some type of altercation occurred inside of the house resulting in the death of the woman," the police tell ABC News. "Then this individual [now confirmed to be Lewis] ran outside, had an altercation with a couple of neighbors, ran back into the house and by the time we got here, he had fallen or had somehow died on the driveway."
Presently, Lewis (who dated Katy Perry in 2006) is a suspect in the murder of the deceased woman. In addition to this, it is not yet confirmed whether Lewis' death was an accident or suicide. It is believed that Lewis might have been renting a room from the woman. Hollywood.com has reached out to Lewis' rep and to the Los Angeles Police Department for comment.

We certainly enjoy when our favorite celebrities commit a major faux pas, have a wardrobe malfunction, or generally behave like children. But when stars use their fame to help others, there is nothing better.
In a heartwarming bit of news, Jennifer Aniston, Malin Akerman, Lady Antebellum, Jack Nicholson, Keith Urban, and Ellen DeGeneres are just a few of the many celebrities who make an appearance in Hey St. Jude, a music video debuted by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The video, appropriately set to the tune of the popular Beatles’ song "Hey Jude," hit YouTube on Wednesday as a part of the hospital’s year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary.
The video was created to raise money for St. Jude to help kids battling cancer and other deadly diseases. After watching the video, you can donate $5, buy the #heystjude shirt worn by the kids and celebrities in the video for $35, thank the stars who appeared in the video, or share it on Twitter or Facebook.

Sorry ladies, but Antonio Sabato Jr. is officially off the market. The 40-year-old hunky General Hospital: Night Shift star and his fiancee Cheryl Moana Marie tied the knot Tuesday on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai, his rep tells People. But unlike some celebrity affairs, Sabato Jr. and Marie decided to keep the affair very private. They opted to say "I do" in front of only 18 people at a private estate on Anini Beach.
The beginning of the couple's romance was no Bachelor-esque affair. While Sabato Jr. failed to meet the love of his life on his reality show, My Antonio, in 2009, timing was just holding out on him. He met Marie after he was done filming the show. The couple then welcomed the birth of their first child, Antonio, in May 2011. Now, after the Hawaiian ceremony on Tuesday, the family is officially complete.

Get your horrified, indignant scoffs ready for this statement: The 2012 remake of The Three Stooges may just turn out to be the time capsule for a generation. The Farrelly Brothers' update of the beloved slapstick trio features some of the most prevalent, recognizable names in modern-day pop culture: Snooki and The Situation. Yes, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, they of Jersey Shore fame and the impending apocalypse, are just a few of the zeitgeist-y cameos in the comedy, which hits theaters this weekend. The reality stars are joined by their Jersey Shore cohorts on screen, as well as Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton and "Old Spice Guy" Isiah Mustafa. (IMDb notes that Dwight Howard, Antonio Sabato Jr., and Justin Lopez also appear in the movie.)
Of course, like any movie that takes advantage of on flavor-of-the-moment cameos, Stooges runs the risk of looking terribly outdated by the time it arrives in the theaters. Such casting turns a project into a veritable Now That's What I Call Music for the big screen, if you will. Yes, Jersey Shore marked a very specific moment in pop culture, but despite some truly upsetting tabloid cover lines and spin-offs, dwindling ratings and all-around fatigue implies that moment may have already, mercifully, passed us by. Still, for a brief window in our nation's history, we were enraptured by the fist bumping antics of the Jersey Shore cast and The Three Stooges will forever be around to remind us that we, as a nation, let them get famous enough to make perfume and appear in movies with Larry David and Jane Lynch. We brought this on ourselves, America.
Here's some other examples of when of-the-moment pop culture and the big screen have collided:
Betty White in The Proposal: Okay, it's not really fair to define White's role in The Proposal as a cameo since she's a supporting character in the hit 2009 comedy, but talk about striking while the iron was hot. The Proposal was released at the peak of White's comeback and her crowd-pleasing performance as a groping, dancing Granny all but solidified her place in our hearts as the ultimate comeback kid.
Kim Kardashian in Disaster Movie: Never mind the fact that the 2008 spoof comedy sounds like it could be the name of a Kardashian biopic, the reality star strayed from the celebrity cameo standard of playing themselves and instead opted to play a cheerleader named "Lisa." We'll all remember where we were when we didn't remember Kim Kardashian actually starred in a movie.
Paris Hilton in House of Wax: Or, as it is known throughout the ages, The Movie That Killed Paris Hilton. (If only it had been able to stop The Hottie & the Nottie.)
Chuck Norris in Dodgeball: The original meme generator took time from his busy logic-defying ass-kicking skills to appear in the 2004 comedy.
Sugar Ray in Father's Day/Blink-182 in American Pie: What would the '90s have been without Blink-182, Sugar Ray, American Pie or Father's Day? (You can reasonably answer three of those!) Both bands appeared in the comedies as — you guessed it — rockers.
Honorable mention: Despite being about seven years too late, Billy Blanks, Jared "Subway Guy" Fogle, and Bill Romanowski were among some of the cameos in Jack and Jill. (Note: Johnny Depp and Al Pacino both apparently lost some sort of bet and made appearances in the Razzie darling, too.)
Can you think of some other zeitgeist-y cameos from movies? Share them in the comments section!
