HOLLYWOOD, May 18, 2000 -- Paul Bartel, the cult-fave actor and director whose credits included schlocky Roger Corman films and the offbeat hit "Eating Raoul" died Saturday in New York, it was reported today. He was 61. Bartel acted in more than 70 films, ranging from "Frankenweenie" to the just-released "Hamlet" starring Ethan Hawke. His signature work was "Eating Raoul," a macabre comedy and surprise art-house hit of 1982 that he co-wrote, directed and starred in. After that, Bartel continued to make films such as "Lust in the Dust," "Scenes From the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills" and "Shelf Life," but none received the notoriety of "Raoul." The cause of Bartel's death was not immediately known, although family members said that he recently underwent surgery for cancer of the liver ducts, according to The New York Times.

Laylin said he be glad to sell her to a conservation group if it would be willing to pay the $60,000 fee.

HOLLYWOOD, June 5, 2000 -- One day you're the hero in a high-profile theft case that makes headlines and changes your life. A few months later, you're the victim of a low-profile crime that goes almost unnoticed but also changes your life. So it goes for Willie Fulgear, the 61-year-old Los Angeles scrap metal dealer who earned a $50,000 reward in March, when he found most of the gold-plated Oscar statuettes that were stolen en route from a Chicago foundry to Los Angeles. In addition to the money, he received a limo ride to the Academy Awards and a seat alongside Hollywood's finest. Sometime from May 15 to June 1, thieves broke into Fulgear's tiny apartment and made off with a 500 pound safe that contained about $40,000 of his reward money, plus some jewelry, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Fulgear was visiting relatives in Mississippi at the time.
His time has passed. But why?
