HOLLYWOOD, Nov. 10, 2000 -- Pretty woman Julia Roberts is certainly no stranger to revolution -- or shall we say Joe Roth's Revolution Studios. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the $20 million per pic starlet will lend her star power to the preliminarily titled "Project 3" for the titular studio. The project will reteam Roberts with "The Mexican" helmer Gore Verbinski, who became available after Leonardo DiCaprio dropped out of DreamWorks' "Catch Me If You Can," which he was set to direct. Reminiscent of George Cukor's 1994 classic "Gaslight," "Project 3" is described as a story wherein a man tries to convince his wife that she is going crazy. Besides this film, Roberts is also committed to other Revolution projects such as "American Sweethearts" and "Replay." HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 11, 2000 -- Our friends over at Eon Magazine (www.mothership.com) scored a major scoop this week, publishing the first-ever interview with director Sam Raimi on the subject of the wall-crawling, web-shooting "Spider-Man" movie. Of course, Raimi wouldn't talk about plot details, but he waxed about his love of Marvel Comics' marquee character, a pulp teen icon of the post-atomic age. "What I hope to put into the movie is what I found so attractive about the comic books," Raimi said in the interview. "[Peter Parker, Spidey's true identity] is not pretending to be somebody, like Superman pretends to be Clark Kent. Superman is really cool and unstoppable and he winks at us with the glasses and says, 'I'm just pretending to be a nerd.' But Peter really is. He never loses sight of who he is and that's what's great about him. He's still us in that costume." The ot
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 19, 2000 -- Michael J. Fox has certainly proven that there's life after Parkinson's, but can the same be said for "Spin City" after Michael J. Fox? The actor dropped a bomb in TV land Tuesday with his unexpected announcement to leave the hit sitcom "Spin City" at the end of its fourth season -- a decision, the actor said, that would allow him to better concentrate his efforts in combating the degenerative disease. "After long and careful consideration, I have decided that following the completion of "Spin City's" fourth season (and the filming of our 100th episode), I will not be returning for a fifth year," said Fox in a statement. "I feel that right now my time and energy would be better spent with my family and working toward a cure for Parkinson's disease. This does not mean I am retiring from acting, producing or directing, only t
