A federal appeals court overturned a $3 million judgment on Friday that Dustin Hoffman won against Los Angeles Magazine in 1999 over use of an altered photo of the actor in his cross-dressing role as Tootsie. The three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the magazine had a First Amendment right to publish the photographs of Hoffman and the other actors.
