A two-day sale of late crooner Andy Williams' vast art collection has smashed estimates by raising $46 million (£29 million) at the first auction.

And it looks great.

Actor/director Vincent Gallo is auctioning off a portrait of himself sketched by American artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel - with bids starting at $25,000 (GBP15,625).

Julian Schnabel’s perceptive direction and Mathieu Amalric’s inspired performance make this involving adaptation of the autobiography by magazine editor Jean-Dominique Bauby—who was left paralyzed at age 43 by a stroke—so much more than France's answer to <em>My Left Foot</em>.
