Independence Day star Bill Pullman is taking his new movie back home to smalltown New York state as a tribute to the long-serving mayor.
Democrat Shawn Hogan has held the post in Hornell since January, 1986, and the town’s most famous son is planning to stage a premiere there to say thanks.
Pullman will screen the western The Ballad of Lefty Brown over the holidays.

“I love my roots…,” he says. “Our mayor has held the office of mayor longer than any other New York mayor in history… so we’re gonna have a little party for him and we’re gonna show the movie.”
The film was shot in Pullman’s adopted Montana.
