Happy Madison, Happy Family: A Look At Adam Sandler’s On-Screen Bonds

Isn’t it crazy that Adam Sandler was fired from Saturday Night Live?

Back in 2019, shortly after Uncut Gems dropped, he did an interview with 60 Minutes’ Sharyn Alfonsi. They went to his hometown of Manchester, New Hampshire, took a look inside his childhood bedroom, met his mom, and followed him as he played a pick-up game of basketball with some kids in NYC. Later they visited the set of SNL, where, of course, they ran into Lorne Michaels, who commented about Sandler’s 1995 dismissal.

“It was the rare moment in the history of the show where the network and the critics were on the same side. Everybody agreed that this group of people weren’t funny,” said Michaels. At the time (1995), Sandler was alongside Chris Rock, David Spade and Chris Farley.

Shortly after, Sandler went onto to star in Billy Madison (1995) and Happy Gilmore (1996). In 1999, he founded Happy Madison Productions Inc., the same year that Big Daddy was released. This was also the year that he met his future wife, Jackie Titone. She was playing a sports bar waitress on the Big Daddy set.

Jackie’s first official film is listed as Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalo – the first official release from Happy Madison Productions Inc. Little Nicky (2000), Eight Crazy Nights (2002) followed.

And So It Began …

Adam and Jackie dated for a few years before marrying in June 2003.

Jackie started up again with Happy Madison Productions, showing up in 50 First Dates (2004) and The Benchwarmers (2006). She gave birth to the couple’s first child, Sadie Madison Sandler in May 2006.

Before having a second child, Sunny Madeline Sandler in November 2008, Jackie was in I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry (2007).

According to IMDb, Sadie Sandler’s first uncredited role was in Don’t Mess With The Zohan in 2008. Her mother was also in this film that starred and was written by her husband, Adam.

The Latest Sandler Family Release

Produced by Happy Madison, and written by Adam Sandler, Robert Smigel, and Paul Sado, Leo also features the voices of Adam, Jackie, Sunny and Sadie. Leo is the second animated film from Happy Madison.

(We’ll let Netflix, the film’s distribution company, describe it for us.)

“Quickly approaching his final year of life, an ancient class pet lizard named Leo has a midlife crisis at the ripe old age of 74. After deciding to leave his cage for good, he unexpectedly falls into a different calling — acting as therapist to the peculiar fifth-grade students in his classroom. Adam Sandler stars in and co-wrote the animated comedy Leo, which encompasses the formative final year of elementary school — as seen through the eyes of a lizard.”

Adam Sandler will voice the lead lizard, Leo, and Sadie and Sunny will voice students, Jayda and Summer. Jackie Sandler will voice Jayda’s mother. The film also features Bill Burr, Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander, and of course, Rob Schneider.

Leo is scheduled to be released on Netflix on November 21.
