Four Movies to Watch this Valentines Day

Valentines Day has finally arrived. Whether or not you choose to recognize this pagan Hallmark holiday, we here at Hollywood.com always have you covered on movie picks.

We chose two hot ones in theaters right now (with ticket links!) and two classics you can stream. It’s a Wednesday night and tomorrow is a business day, right?

Anyone But You

Anyone But You was actually released on December 22 but the story it’s based on was written back about 425 years ago.

That’s right, the sleeper rom-com of the winter season was based on William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, but only like, halfway.

Instead of two couples, the modern update focuses on Bea (Sydney Sweeney, Euphoria) and Ben (Glen Powell, Top Gun: Maverick) and much like Benedick and Beatrice of yesteryear, trickery, falsehoods, and secrets abound until the lovers unite. All’s well that ends well, yeah?

“Once people found out through TikTok that this is a really fun movie to go to with your friends, it became something to do. And that’s what it used to be when we were growing up. That’s kind of stopped for a lot of different reasons, mostly because they’re on streaming,” director Will Gluck told the Los Angeles Times last week.

Anyone But You is currently enjoying an extended release at theaters near you.

Mamma Mia focuses on Donna (Streep), an independent hotelier in the Greek islands as she prepares for her daughter’s wedding. Meanwhile, her daughter Sophie (Seyfried) has preparations of her own. She has secretly invited three men from her mother’s past in hope of meeting her real father so that he can escort her down the aisle. What could go wrong?

Which Brings Me To You

Weddings can be one of the happiest places to be, at least if you are already married. However, when you are single, weddings can be a place of stress. For two romantic burnouts, Jane (Lucy Hale) and Will (Natt Wolff), this proves to be the case. The pair have a chance encounter by the cloak room and find themselves in an almost precarious situation. After putting the kibosh on anything romantic happening at that moment, the duo decide to have candid conversations hoping that in the off chance, this could lead to a more permanent relationship.

How to Be Single

How to Be Single is a bit of a departure from the rest of these films and most other rom-coms because this movie actively focuses less on relationships and more on the time of being single in between. It stars Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Leslie Mann, and Allison Brie, following four women as they navigate the New York City dating scene.

If you’re looking for rom-com feel good vibes with more of a focus on the growth that happens during the time in between relationships, this is the movie for you. You can buy or rent this one on YouTube.
