Chris Tucker has been in only three movies since 1998. And they were the three Rush Hour movies. I don’t know what to take away from that. But it does mean that The Silver Linings Playbook must be a real special script…or, at least one with a surprising amount of people not understanding the words that are coming out of other people’s mouths. Either way, Chris Tucker is in. But he’s not the only one: Julia Stiles is in, too.
Now, I have always been on Stiles’ side. Primarily for 10 Things I Hate About You. She sort of lost a little of my faith in the fifth season of Dexter, but…everybody gets a freebie. She was still in 10 Things I Hate About You. Nothing can ever change the fact that she was in 10 Things I Hate About You. So, no matter what happens, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Julia Stiles. Because of 10 Things I Hate About You.
The Silver Linings Playbook is a film by director David O. Russell. His most recent, and most prominent success came from directing The Fighter, but he’s been around for a while: he is also responsible for Three Kings, Flirting with Disaster, I ? Huckabees (which I loved, for some reason), and the incredibly disturbing Spanking the Monkey. DOR’s new story will follow a hapless school teacher (Bradley Cooper) who, after splitting from his wife, loses it and ends up in a psychological institution. He is released into the custody of his mother (kinda like the male-Imogen…which makes it male-awesome) and decides to win back his wife. However, he becomes taken with another woman in the process: a paricularly unstable woman (Jennifer Lawrence).
Julia Stiles (of 10 Things I Hate About You) will play the role of Jennifer Lawrence’s sister, while Chris Tucker will play the fast-talking cop with a stoic partner adept in martial arts.
