Ed Lover Says ‘C’mon, Son!’ to the Oscar Nominees

Continuing with the pattern of having musicians spout their thoughts on today’s movie scene, NextMovie.com has posted a video of rapper/radio personality Ed Lover, offering his take on the Oscar nominees of the 84th Annual Academy Awards, which will broadcast live on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ABC.

Lover, using his renowned catchphrase “C’mon, son!” without frugality, has a lot to say about this year’s nominations. He takes especial issue with the surplus of “old white dudes,” and the lack of appreciation for Dame “Julie” Dench in J. Edgar, and for the film Drive, citing Ryan Gosling and Albert Brooks as terrific performers in the film. Lover does share some complimentary words for films like The Help and actresses like Meryl Streep and Glenn Close. But Lover’s moments of satisfaction are few and far between; the “C’mon sons,” hilariously, are not.
