Tom Cruise’s latest Mission: Impossible movie was filming just a few blocks away from Thursday night’s (20Apr17) fatal shooting incident in Paris, France.
Karim Cheurfi, 39, drove up to a police van on the Champs Elysees and shot the driver before opening fire at other officers, seriously injuring two. Cheurfi was shot dead by police while trying to flee on foot after the attack.
Filming on the sixth installment of the spy thriller franchise was reportedly being shot just under a mile away, on the Grand Palais, with stars Cruise and Henry Cavill spotted in Paris.
Cavill posted a picture of himself on the set via Instagram less than 30 minutes before the sick attack, and commented on the moustache he has been sporting for the film.

However, it has yet to be confirmed the actors were actually filming at the time of the attack, according to People.
A spokesman for Paramount was quick to report the movie had not been affected by the drama across the city: “The production’s thoughts, like all of ours, are with the people of Paris,” they added.
A source told People filming resumed less than an hour after the deadly attack, as lights from inside the set were illuminated.
And director Christopher McQuarrie posted a picture on Friday morning (21Apr17) – around 9 hours after the attack – suggesting filming had continued overnight.

Mission: Impossible 6, which also features Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Simon Pegg, is set for release in 2018.
Meanwhile, Cruise will be back on the big screen this summer (17) in a new blockbuster take on The Mummy.
