Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher are working together on a new song Paul hopes will be the theme for the next James Bond film.

The 58-year-old rock legend told the BBC that it’s always been his ambition to write a song for a Bond movie, and that he has a new track he believes would be perfect for 007’s next outing.

“I want to write a James Bond theme tune,” he said. “I’ve got this half a song that me and Noel Gallagher worked on and I think it would be great for a Bond theme. There’s a bit of minor key going on. That would be an ambition definitely.”

The follow-up to 2015 Bond movie Spectre is still in the early stages of production and is yet to receive an official release date or begin filming.

Producers have selected younger stars to record the themes to the last two films, with Adele picked to write sing 2012’s Skyfall and Sam Smith’s Oscar winning track Writing’s on the Wall chosen for Spectre.

Paul has already gained experience writing movie music, as he has penned the score for new boxing film Jawbone, which is released in the U.K. on Friday (12May17).

The Jam’s ex-frontman also has his eye on another songwriting project – and he wants his song The Impossible Idea to be used as Britain’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

“I want to see the UK win the Eurovision Song Contest,” he said. “And I think they need The Impossible Idea as their tune.”

Sadly, it is likely to be too late to choose the track as this year’s (17) entry, as The X Factor U.K. alumni Lucie Jones will compete with the song Never Give Up on You in Saturday’s (13May17) final in Kiev, Ukraine..=
