Now, while the New York critics picked Wall-E as best animated film, the Los Angeles Film Critics Assn picked the delightful Pixar romp as best picture, marking the first time in the organization’s 33-year history that an animated film has taken the top prize. Good for them.

The late Heath Ledger drew the City of Angels group’s supporting actor nod for his villainous turn as the Joker in The Dark Knight, while Milk’s Penn took another award for best actor.

Happy-Go-Lucky’s Sally Hawkins and Vickys Cruz also each got their second prizes for best actress and supporting actress, respectively.
