Channing Tatum’s Facial Hair, Wife Star in ’10 Years’ — VIDEO

Does anyone actually like high school reunions? And on what planet do the people you actually want to see end up going to them? They just seem like sloppy, sad affairs that prove that aging exists and nobody is the same after all these years. The popular girls all became stay-at-home moms, the townies are, well, townies, and the nostalgia of the time period (“Man high school was the BEST!” – no one worth knowing, ever) can often feel suffocating.

And yet here is Channing Tatum‘s facial hair and his merry band of misfits: heading off to their ten year high school reunion, ready to tackle all the same old high school bulls**t that everyone else does, but with way less attractive and funny friends. Coming along for the ride include Tatum’s very own real-life wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Parks and Rec funnypeople Chris Pratt and Aubrey Plaza, as well as Justin Long, Oscar Isaac, and Rosario Dawson as (of course) the one who got away!

The film seems like it has everything that a properly nostalgic film about the supposed “best years of your life” should have. Including: antics! Zany friends! Jokes about baby-eating! Chris Pratt stumbling into things! Booze! And that one kid who “acted black!”

The cast list is truly a good one: who doesn’t love a Tatum, right? Plus Pratt and Plaza tend to take over any screen they’re on. Justin Long is generally an enjoyable dude and Ari Graynor needs to be way more famous than she currently is–but she’s getting there! Plus, ever since I saw Oscar Isaac in a play a few years ago I’ve had a bit of an acting crush on him (oh yeah, he’s also real attractive).

We want to like this movie, yes? We want this movie to be funny, because all of these actor folks are pretty swell. Any anyone employing Ron Livingston has to be a smart cookie, yes? So groan-worthy preconceptions about any reunion movie that isn’t Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion need to be dashed, for now. Let’s hold out for more clips before forming any sort of definitive opinion on it. Don’t let me be the judge and jury for you–check out the clip below and let us know what you think in the comments!
