Meet Chris Evans: superhero by day, director by night… or at least by 1:30 AM.
Deadline reports that between starring in Marvel’s upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Avengers 2; Age of Ultron, Evans will make his directorial debut with the Ron Bass-scripted drama 1:30 Train. The indie romance follows two strangers who meet in a Manhattan train station and spend a night in the city together. In a plot similar to Before Sunrise, Evans plays an unlucky saxophone player who helps a young woman in need and ends up falling for her as they explore the conflicts in each other’s lives.
Evans will also star and produce the film, whose writer is billed with Rain Man and the romantic classic My Best Friend’s Wedding. The actor is producing alongside Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG and Mary Viola, who worked with Evans on the upcoming A Many Splintered Thing. Evans had been involved in an earlier attempt of 1:30 Train with another director, but took over the material with Wonderland when the original project fell through.
Evans plans to shoot the movie this fall before beginning work on the Avengers sequel. Get ready to swoon, ladies, because this hunky Captain America is about to show us if he’s just as talented as he is handsome.
